Are you guys going to take your FO3 characters to New Vegas?

Post » Mon Dec 06, 2010 7:30 am

Hey fellas,

With New Vegas just around the corner (literally, just a little over two weeks, ands its out) I think it's a good time to start thinking; are you guys going to take the characters you have here, and plug those into New Vegas? Or keep LW and Courier as two separate characters?

I actually kinda feel sad, leaving all that stuff behind from FO3, but still, it's something we're all gonna do eventually. This forum is going to be so empty, and the NV forums will be where everyone will be hanging out. (Except me, I won't go there till I complete the game a couple times. Atleast a month :P )

Anyway, drop the nostalgia and answer the question!

I know for a fact Im taking one of my FO3 characters into NV. Not sure which, but one of them for sure. How about you guys?

Note: This is a FO3/NV hybrid topic, but I posted it here, because I think the question is better asked from this crowd, than the one over there. Mods, please don't move it, I know what Im doing.
Also folks, try not to discuss NV itself, as some people want to avoid details. If you must, put it in spoiler tags, otherwise just answer the question, giving an explanation. Thank You. :D

Yes! First poster!

Yup, I am roleplaying that the couirer is indeed the Lone Wanderer. I mean, ots been three years since FO3 (In game). I bet I could cross the country within three years!

No, I don't have any interest in dragging one of my FO3 characters over to NV (and inexplicably loosing all of their abilities and equipment in the process). I may have similar characters but I won't be RPing them as continuous.

Nah. I'm just going to start it fresh.

And I'm going to stay way away from any forum about it for the first 50 hours of playing.... I didn't even know the character was going to be a courier 'til I opened this thread. :nope:

I've even been averting my eyes from the screen shots on the main page here...

No my character won't be the lone wanderer although she may share the personality of the Lone Wanderer

I may take the name with me but that's about all.

I won't feel any sense of loss leaving Fallout 3 behind. It'll still be installed on my pc :D and I'll still play it... after I take a break while I play New Vegas.

I agree that the Fallout 3 forum may quiet down a bit, I mean just take a look at the mods section, that has certainly quieted down since release date. I suspect the same thing may happen to the Oblivion forums when TES V is finally released (I hope). but that's for a different thread

Well, seeing as Mike Wolfletter (my FO3 char) has yet to even complete the MQ, I doubt he'd be headed out west any time soon.

I know, it's set three years after the events, so I could pretend that Mike in NV had already done the stuff he has yet to do in FO3.

Of course, crossing the country in the three years...he won't look as young or as fresh as he did in FO3...

I probably won't. But I'll make the Courier look like my main Lone Wanderer.

Nope, I enjoy making new characters, though my New Vegas will share a few things with my Fallout 3 character.

It might end up being the same as one of my old characters but not a character port from FO3 to Vegas as such (perhaps a personality transplant!). I'm gona try to avoid the Vegas forums if possible as well (have done so far), but I may need to have a browse if I encounter bugs etc.

When you put it like that I think I'll do the same :)

Maybe after several playthroughs I'll look at transferring my old main character over, if we have the tools to do 'face transplants.'
I did that with my old Oblivion main character into Fallout 3. It didn't quite work but I got her pretty close.

I didn't realise that you could port your characeter from FO3 to NV. Can you actually do that, in the sense of it asks you "do you wish to play the game continuing from a FO3 save game?", or do you mean just generate a character with the same stats and name and invent your own explanation for how you got there?

To answer your question I think I'll have to start again. I'd be VERY tempted to continue with the same one if there was an option built into the game. I'm really attatched to my current character and wish there were more to do in the capital wasteland. But in all these games a lot of the fun is starting from humble beginnings where the most meager enemy terrifies you and the most modest success seems like a huge victory. It'd feel a bit wierd if my current character found herself in that situation after flying around in spaceships and destroying feral ghoul Reavers.

I don't know if it's actually possible, maybe on PC, but not 360. :P I meant more like same face, name, etc.

I'm kind of assuming that this new character will have its own back story revealed during the course of the game. I'd find it kind of jarring to go in assuming "yeah, same hero from the vault!" and then find out he was an undercover Enclave spy with amnesia this whole time (or whatever).

My slaver character has her bag packed and is ready to begin the trek west to join up with Caesar's Legion and then turn on them and enslave them all. Heh.

My FO3 character/characters will most likely make an appearance in New Vegas. I've gotten attached to them.

Well said, I feel exactly the same way. Even having done all the quests, there's still so much I have to see in Fallout 3. I'm not ready to leave it just yet. Itll always be such a memorable game, but nothing lasts forever :(

Hell yeh! Kain Nightwatch has been in both Oblivion and Fallout 3. So of course he will appear in New Vegas.
Don't know whether I will roleplay him as carrying on from that, or maybe an alternate reality where he wasn't actually the LW.
Either way, Kain's back to kick some ass!

Wouldn't he be...three at the time? Kinda young to be kicking ass in New Vegas...

If I weren't playing Mike Wolfletter in New Vegas, I'll pretend that either his mom or dad had a sibling and I play as either that sibling or the sibling's children. Guess I'll have to make up a last name for Ms. Catherine. =D

EDIT: Would it be sad if I created a timeline for both my Fallout and Elder Scrolls characters?
