Are you happy with your current console/PC?

Post » Thu Oct 20, 2011 1:59 am

So due to the recent amount of topics about people interested in buying a new PC it got me wondering. How many people are going to upgrade (purely) for Skyrim?

Personally I think I'll upgrade my graphics card to a better model, seeing as otherwise I would have to resort to playing Skyrim on low. As a result of this I'll have to buy a new PSU though, but I bet Skyrim will be worth the extra ~200 euros! Besides, it'll make sure my PC can last a few more years game-wise.

Sorry if such a topic has already been posted, I didn't find anything scanning the first few pages.

Edit: If you are wondering about your PC specs or looking to upgrade/buy a new PC, this is the topic for you! - http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1242901-unofficial-will-my-pc-run-skyrim-discussion-34/

I need to upgrade anyway. This just seems an appropriate time, as BF3 and Skyrim are both being released. The longer I can wait the better, though. Prices can only go down.

Well, I just bought a new PC, which is arriving tomorrow. I didn't buy it for Skyrim exclusively, but it's definitely one of the reasons for my upgrade (the other games being Crysis 2, Dead Space 2, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Battlefield 3, Modern Warfare 3, and Diablo 3).

Hmmm yes, I was trying to last my old PC until a new Elder Scrolls. But it went suicidal on me and I resorted to buying a new one about a year ago.

But sadly I was completely clueless about computers back then and am stuck with a Radeon 5450 card currently, though the rest of my PC is more than fine.

I wish I could upgrade. I will be playing mostly on my boyfriend's PC because it has a better graphics card than mine. I will have to chug along on my old rig for a little bit longer. Getting an upgrade for xmas. Woo!

I just added 2 more gigs of RAM to my PC. I'm good.

ps - took forever to convince my wife the RAM was needed so her e-mail would stop locking up ...

In general i'm not AS happy with m PC as i'd like to be. It's getting on 3 and a half years old and could, likely, barely run Skyrim on low-med settings.

But I am happy for now as I have a 360 and a PS3 so it's not like I have no options.

New gaming PC next Feb/Mar once I get past christmas and have some extra cash.

I'm currently using a bad laptop and a PS3 for gaming. I'm happy with it, but am slowly saving to buy a nice gaming rig. However, I'd never spend the money for one game. As a series TES is near the top of my reasons to get a decent PC, but there are other factors. A silly one is that my girlfriend tends to overload the CPU trying to do too much at once with the laptop, then complains it's sluggish. A good rig will handle everything she needs with ease.

put simply...

IF i had a gaming PC, something that could run Skyrim on high etc... id still have it for my Xbox360 (which i am happy with)

id have it for the PC too, but xbox would be my main platform for skyrim for fun, the pc for mods

I was thinking about buying a gaming rig at one point but it's kind of silly shelling out 1000 dollars for one game.

I will still have fun on my 360 and the 32" screen sure beats a computer monitor.

I'll probably add some more RAM, maybe a new graphics card, and if I can afford it a better monitor (my current 1 is about 7 years old).
Not just for Skyrim of course but mainly for it as of the games I looking forward to it'll probably be the most impressive graphically.

Think you might need a new GPU, it's not a good card by all accounts, still, it's the only thing you need to replace.

I literally hold onto my PC until it breaks down or the next Elder Scrolls comes out. So its time.

Yeah currently leaning heavily towards the 6850, which is cheap considering how well it performs. And I'm all about cheap!
If that works out for me it'll cost me about 200 euro but will ensure I can play Skyrim on high-ish settings.

Might upgrade after parts drop in price in 2 years or so, that way I can max graphics on PC for 300 bucks rather than 500. Ill have to still with XBox for right now.
