Are you hoping they'll keep dragons to a minimum?

If Dragons are really big versions of ordinary enemies with ordinary enemy AI, and the craptastic ordinary enemy "flying" (hovering), then I'd rather see none. On the other hand, if fighting dragons was really well done, sort of like Shadow of the Colossi or something, that would be cool.

Indeed. A more interactive fight with the dragon itself actually being a platform like Avion in Shadow of the Colossus http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1o56kQtAbBo would do justice to the dragons.

I could imagine walking around in the snow drifts on a foggy morning and just seeing a faint silhouette of a dragon flying overhead, far up in the clouds - something to make you really feel uneasy and vulnerable. I think those sorts of things alone would be far more fulfilling than an actual fight.

Exactly my thoughts.

Honestly I hope to see only one dragon, and it being involved with the main quest.

Or imagine this; you hear and read the greatness, the power of dragons throughout the game, their fury, strength and the depth of their culture. The statues and paintings. The songs. Then you start hearing folk tales and news about an unknown enemy ruthlessly slaying the few dragons who survived eons with ease.

And you hear that this enemy is coming.

Wouldn't you feel intimidated?

Not really. I'd think 'oh this must be the actual bad guy. Since this is a videogame I'll obviously be able to defeat him in twenty levels' time so no reason to sweat it'.

Skyrim needs lots of ambient noises, too - I imagine the province having a very dark, mythical atmosphere similar to Beowulf or Macbeth. The occasional faint screech or cry from up above would work well at suggesting the presence of dragons...or cliff racers.

I'm hoping maybe one or two big dragons, maybe some smaller ones but keep it special and important. Also, definitely darker lighting and an overall darker feel. I'm already getting that vibe from the white on black of the trailer and promos thusfar.

I trust Bethesda will pay attention to lore. I dont want too many dragons, like 1 or 2, and i dont want them to be easy to kill, if meant to be killed at all

According to the Twitter page, "There Will Be Dragons".

Hopefully they keep them to a minimum.

Again...

This is about role playing, not farming or armor or having appropriate equipment at the appropriate level.

This is having an adventure in a strange and fantastic, living world.

Alas, it seems true role players are fast becoming extinct.

Am I the only one who thinks my character will be teaming up with scaly umbrellas to spit and roast some ne'er-do-wells?

In Soviet Elder Scrolls, dragon ride you! (sorry)

All I know is it would be great if we could talk to dragons right? Especially if we turn out to be Dragonborn, it would an an interesting dynamic to the game.

I dont hope they darken the lighting, I hope the lighting is more realistic. Light and happy during the day and dark and dangerous during the night. Oblivion was just light and happy all day all night, unless you used mods (yay mods!)

One dragon for the main quest. Don't care if get to fight it. Its presence alone will do.
I'm hoping for an unmarked cave somewhere hidden where a dragon is living. This way you could have a dragon and could be easily missed.

Hunting it would be especially entertaining.

On the lighting thing, it has always bugged me in the BGS games. When it is night time it is barely dark.
