No, there is no legal age that you can't play FO3, if your parents buy it for you and say, "You can play it," then its ok. If they buy it for you and you play it anyway after they say, "no," you're not going to jail for it.

Yea, all the ESRB rating does, is protect game companies. Because for example, if they didnt exist, what if a 7 year old gets his hands on a copy of grand theft auto? He would certainly be scarred :P. This way, at least they warn you to the content. But it isnt actually illigal to play any game really...

By American standards I'm too 'young'. By Australian standards I'm too 'young'. It hasn't left me mentally scarred and wanting to kill people, I was already scarred to begin with and if anything it doesn't damage that. This game isn't that bad, really, anyone who's been in any wars or have relatives telling stories realise how worse life is.

according to the ESRB, my parents should still be advised of game content i play.
but i know i'm mature enough to handle what's in fallout 3 and that's why i'm able to play games like this.
i feel sorry for the poor kid whose in highschool and i not allowed to play games like fallout, because honestly i beleive by 14 most kids are able to deal with videogame violence.

is being able to blow some guys head off and dismember his body explicit?
absolutely.

well I knew a 5,6 and 8 year old boys that played GTA a fair bit, sure there mom was kinda screwed up and same with there uncle (the guy who gave them a ps2), so its possible a 7 year old would enjoy it I know those kids do and I had to tell them its not real and dont you dare ever try to do this in real life or I will literally hunt you down.... needless to say they were scared and I dont think they are that dumb.

but anyway, the violence in FO3 is kinda stylized in ways with the vats dismemberment and even then its not something I would let a kid under the age of 15-16 play without my surpervision.

Same here. I don't think they need to necesserrely experience all the "exhilaration" from tearing someone to bits and eating them (and it has nothing to do with maturity as I don't consider Fallout 3 a mature game), just an uncessery participation in virtual violence. I'm old fashioned in that regard - and also maybe a hypocrite, since I didn't apply the same rules to myself when in that age and played almost all the most violent games there were :P (and that's why I don't judge anyone).

This type of violence is still nothing compared to the ultimate game of all time; it's called LIFE! ;)

2."This type of violence" and LIFE can not be compared...

I am not too young to play the game, being 19.

I don't think it is explicit at all. If kids don't play this game, they'll still see violence on tv. Oh, and in pretty much every other game out there.

I'm not technically too young to legally play FO3, since there are no laws in the US regarding age restrictions on games. However, I am one year younger than ESRBs recommended age for the game.

And yes, I would consider the level of violence in this game very explicit, even if it's not that realistic.

I'm 19, but someone with my dodgy imagination shouldn't be playing a game with this degree of mutilation.

I'm starting to doubt that anyone knows the definition of 'explicit'. Explicit is not an opinion, this game certainly is explicit.

Nope, perfectly fine for me to play. Though not by much.

Though my 14 year old brother plays, it doesn't screw him up.

In America you could play it out of the womb if you wanted.Sure it is fairly gory ,has foul language and makes sixual references but its not terrible.

1. LIFE is not a game...

Yes it is. Life is basically a big gigantic RPG MMO.
You do task at your work/school (Quests)
You socialise with people (Chat)
You gain experience by doing stuff
You "level up" so to speak as you get older, wiser and stronger to handle more complex tasks.
Hell you even have game mechanics. (A.k.a. Laws of Physics)
