Are you replaying after TESV news?

Post » Sat Apr 10, 2010 10:31 am

I haven't really been playing Oblivion much lately due to getting a bit bored of it, but now with all the news of TESV being announced in the past weeks I've been playing more and might actually get round to finishing the main quest before TESV is released.

I've been playing Oblivion continuously for the last three years and will continue for at least a couple more years I figure.

I don't touch new games. I'll pay attention to TES V, but give it at least a year after release to be patched, fixed, expanded, wiki'd, modded and anolyzed to death.

When I do pick it up, I would hope to basically recreate my character and bring her to Skyrim to continue our journey. She's perfectly happy to adventure in the provinces of Cyrodiil, Morrowind, Valenwood and Skyrim.

We have tons to do still in Oblivion. We haven't even rebuilt Kvatch yet.

I say Buffy won't go to Skyrim. Dragons aren't exactly the thing a Mystic Archer would fight. Let the warrior do his thing, and when things get conducive, she takes a vacation there ;)

That's a smart elf there, she knows the difference between bravery and wisdom :D

I'll still play Oblivion. Not only because Skyrim is not here yet, it won't get full modability until at least a few months (SKYSE for the win) , and I'm not leaving Cyrodiil without Haruka.

Also, I'm too busy watching her I forgot to do quests. We're stuck in Cyrodiil for at least another 6 months :D

Nah, Buffy will have no trouble killing dragons. She will just put 20 arrows in it and pin it to the cliff.

Me, I am playing TES IV just because I am determined to finally wrap things up, not because of the recent news.
There is still plently up hunting to be done in the wilds of Cyrodiil.

I was actually playing Oblivion when a friend suddenly sent me roughly fifty instant messages consisting mostly of "SKYRIM OMG SKYRIM." :celebration:

Anyway...as I'm currently replaying Oblivion, I do plan on finishing this round (even though it's going to take a while). I'll probably pre-order Skyrim but won't get around to playing it until the first round of bugs are squashed, at least, and the inevitable unofficial patch is out. ;) Then it'll be time for Relanna to go wreak unholy havoc on some unsuspecting Nords. (Being a power-hungry mage and entirely too much fun to play, Relanna was the first character I created for both Morrowind and Oblivion. Tradition!)

I've been longing to go back to Morrowind for a long time, too, but held off on that--by playing Oblivion--to wait for some mods to finish up. I might actually go back to MW before I get to Skyrim. I have a lot of hopes for TESV, but Vvardenfell still feels like home to me. :)

I'm currently writing myself up a character for a brand new playthrough of Oblivion just because I heard about this news.

Yeah, I don't agree with Acadian or mirocu on this one, though they usually have excellent opinions... Getting it the first day it comes out, even if I have to fight my way through hoardes of other nerds waiting to get it at the nearest GameStop or what-not. :P And then Calacirya and I shall be immersed in Skyrim and leave Cyrodiil behind! At least for a while.

In the meantime, I'm probably going to continue playing Oblivion as usual. Some Oblivion, but more Morrowind. I probably have to redo all the major quest lines though, to get them fresh in my head now. But even after TES:V comes out, I'll still play Oblivion and Morrowind, just like I do now. I can play more than one Elder Scrolls game at a time...

Oooh, this is soooo exciting!

This. I've waited this long, I can wait until 2012 to get TES V. Besides, Elberond still has a lot to do in Cyrodiil before he heads off to Skyrim.

I was replaying Oblivion before the Skyrim news. Seriously, I gave FO3 a try for a while, and like many people got a hankering to return to the green fields of Cyrodiil. I expect I shall continue playing for quite a while longer.

I opened up the forums this morning and saw a new section! And freaked out. Then I called my son upstairs and he was all nonchalant about it, saying he knew the other day already.
But,
I had wanted to get FO:NV, but decided to hold off and and read the Technical Difficulties Section instead.... and I'm glad I did. So I will continue in my Oblivion for a while, until I hear how it does. But my fingers tremble with desire as I write this....

I haven't touched Oblivion in a long time, but after hearing the news about TESV it got me in the mood to play it again. I want to try to explore as much of Cyrodill as possible before the sequel comes out. :)

I just found out about it this morning too, loaded the elderscrolls page cause I like to use the hotlink to the forum normally on there and got a nice little surprise about skyrim. Thought it was kind of fitting since I just got inside from shoveling snow that's up to my hips already feel like I'm in skyrim.

I been playing Oblivion a lot lately like every other day or so, I might actually start playing less so I don't get bored with it. I'm excited to hear about ESV but I get burned out on stuff easy it'd be like eating the same thing for dinner every night.

I won't buy TESV as long as it requires Steam. My understanding is that it will require Steam right?

Just now DLing the mini-DLC for Oblivion (Fighter's Stronghold, Spell Tomes, Vile Lair, etc.). Once I figure out what kinda restart I want to try, will probably play on and off for another few months at least.

Since New Vegas also requires Steam, I Recently bought the two expansion packs for FO3 (i.e., GOTY edition) as well as Morrowind GOTY so those will keep me busy for a while longer beyond that.

Stupidly bought Rogue Warriors without checking the forums, and from what I'm reading it is (surprising for Bethesda) one of the worst games ever. Haven't opened my package yet.

I had been giving Oblivion a rest for the past few weeks to play Fallout 3 (as well as trying to like new vegas but meh) now that Skyrim is announced though I have been right back to Oblivion.

I second Acadian's opinion.

Demicus hasn't even touched the main quest yet. So yeah...I'll wait about a year or maybe a couple months. Wait for it to be patched, modded, etc. I do that with nearly all Bethesda games. Heck, I didn't touch Fallout 3 until 2009! I do that to have a better experience and to "WOW" me faster. When I first played Oblivion...my god was it exciting and awesome.

The only exception was New Vegas...but in any case, Skyrim will have to wait until a year after it releases. Unless the world TURNS into Skyrim. Nah...jokes.

No, I did not come back to Oblivion due to the news of the Elder Scrolls V being announced. I had returned to Oblivion for unrelated reasons quite some time before any official news of the Elder Scrolls V was available. Mainly, I got the temptation to play it again, perhaps in part due to having been playing Morrowind earlier, thus still being in the Elder Scrolls mood, and in part due to seeing a Youtube video demonstrating what can be done with Oblivion's graphics using mods, or something like that. Irontically, I'm not actually using the showcased mods. Regardless, I''d still be playing it even if Skyrim had not been announced, although I AM looking forward to Skyrim regardless.

I won't buy TESV as long as it requires Steam. My understanding is that it will require Steam right?

I may be mistaken, but I don't think we have any official information one way or another on that subject. But I wouldn't be surprised if it requires Steam, considering that seems to be the direction Bethesda is headed, going by New Vegas, at least, which while developed by Obsidian, is published by Bethesda, so while Obsidian was in charge of game design, I expect Bethesda was able to determine what kind of DRM it would use. Of course, had the response to Steam been sufficiently negative, Bethesda might have chosen to do things differently. But considering New Vegas seems to be doing pretty well despite some complaining about the use of Steam, I could very well see Bethesda continuing to use Steam.

Myself, I wouldn't really approve of needing to use Steam, I'd really prefer not to have to install third party software that really shouldn't be necessary to run the game on my computer to play it, and besides, it's absurd for a single player game to require online activation to play. Still, it hasn't stopped me from plying games I want to play before, and if Skyrim requires it, I doubt it will stop me this time.

Thank the Nine!!! If everyone waited like me and some others, no one would push and mature the game to the point where it is ready for us to play!

Although we have plenty of time, I can see Buffy is going to need to craft a ring with resist cold for herself, and similarly enchant a saddlepad for her mare. :cold:

By the way, Rogue Warrior was only PUBLISHED by Bethesda, not made by 'em.

On topic now, I'm always playing Oblivion, and suspect I will still play it for a long time after TESV comes out (albeit not as often).

The funny thing is that I actually just started playing Oblivion again this weekend after not playing it for over 6 months. I played it for at least 10 hours on both Friday and Saturday, then, I log into the forums today to check out the Oblivion Mods board and I see "V - Skyrim," on my screen. I almost didn't believe it.

But yes, I will continue my on current character, and Orc named Roc Gro-Tagh, and enjoy my heavily modded Oblivion until Skyrim is released. I'll probably create another character in Morrowind and actually try to get through the main quest, too.

I just picked it up again. I was playing it a month or two ago, but I've been pretty busy with college and work. Now that break is coming up I will be spending more time on it.

I second Acadian's opinion.

Demicus hasn't even touched the main quest yet.

Make it three. I have five characters who haven't even given the amulet to Jauffre yet, and I have still never seen the Shivering Isles. So I have way too much to do in Cyrodiil before I turn my sights to Skyrim.
