Are you rich?

Has anyone noticed the amount of caps that certain items are worth, and also how many caps do you currently have?

I have been comparing fallout 3 to new vegas, and even when i beat fallout 3 I only had about 2000 caps.
As of now, not even halfway done with the game i have 5000+ caps.
Then again I think that fact that we can repair weapons with the same weapon makes cap conservation even more.

Just wondering, I feel like even with 5000+ caps, i generally have a hard time trying to figure out what to spend it on.

For me it's the other way round. I collected around 50,000 caps once on Fallout 3 by the end (maybe more) - at Level 6 on one of my characters I have only reached 1200 !

Granted that could be partly due to my uselessness at collecting things... :whistling:

5k is nothing compared to what you will get. I'm at 46k right now having just taken the Jury Rigging perk.

Eh, sometimes. If I'd quit buying weapon mods and Combat Armor Mark 2 from the Gun Runners, I'd have more caps :stare:

I usually end up spending most of my caps on repairs for unique/rare items.

There's so much more room to make caps in this game than FO3. There's so many pricey items that if you loot you can sell. So far I have 20,000 which isn't even much when I find the right vendors to sell my pile of loot to.

*ahem..."caploads"

thank you and good night :deal:

Seriously though, Ive got about 38 hours on FO:NV and am up to around 85k caps. Its not that hard to make money, just sell what you don't need.

Tip: Only keep ammo that your going to use, it may be neat to have 500 armor-piercing rounds but if you only use regular rounds you might as well sell them. If you use a marksman carbine and hunting rifle, then you dont need microfusion cells.

Might be a spoiler to some but there are a couple high end things to spend caps on
.
.
.
.
.
If you get an itching go check out the doctors office near the gun runners. They can install implants to boost S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stats as well as Regeneration and Damage Threshold boost. The latter two run like 12k caps each. There is a limit (based on your END on how many implants you can get).

I've broken all of the major casino banks. I'm fairly rich. Which should work out pretty well since I haven't even started my main path yet.

Actually, the Regen is 12k and the Damage is 8k. The others run 4k each.

I thought the Dev's said that they were making it harder to break the game's economy by amassing too many caps? Because if so they might have gone about it the wrong way lol. I'm currently sitting on top of around 100k caps and I just look through shops and think "I already have all of this stuff sitting in my house". So I literally have nothing to spend my money on except for the casinos which I'm blacklisted from lol. I think my next playthrough I just won't pick up caps and the caps I get from quests I'll drop, kinda like a living off the land type of deal.

My way of getting caps was to get fairly buzzed to drunk in real life and I gambled at every casino until they kicked me out. (Saving before and after each win and reloading after each loss. Watchout though! If you reload next to any casino game you have to wait 60 seconds for the machine to "Reset" it's self. An annoying mechanic but it's in there for balance.) This takes a LOT of time. But if you do it to every casino on the strip, Primm, and the other places around the waste you'll be rolling in caps. I have like 250k caps, 40k NCR 100 dollar bills, and like 55k Caesars Gold Coins. Not recommend for fun. It is VERY repetitive (Hence the RL boozing up first) but the rewards are well worth it. I don't even look at my caps any more. Oh and a high barter skill and a high repair skill with jury rigging really helps you keep your caps maintained.

Hit up the casinos on the strip last night. Walked away with a tad over 35,000 caps and Reinforced Combat Armor. Unlike FO3 you really need that kind of cash.

I'm struggling to keep caps. My repair is 30 and my barter is 9, so I'm having a rough time. I am a terrible player generally so I'm spending a fortune on Stims. I'm also spending a fortune on repairs and such.

I'm about to hit level 20 though and my repair will hit 50, so maybe I can make weapon repair stuff. I might try to push Barter to 75 but I wont do it until levels 27-30.

I need to play some caravan or something.

There is a lot more money following in Vegas compared to Fallout 3. However some weapons cost 5-10x more then of FO3.

I'm finding myself being very much the loot cherry picker in NV. I'm making money much better than in FO3 and I love that every few days the traders are overflowing with caps. I never remember waddling (weight 535/210.) into a shop and walking out with 500 rounds of ammo, That Gun, Maple Stock for my Cowboy Repeater, Il Fantoma, and almost 2.5k in caps in FO3. i crested 5k at level 9 in NV and I am spending quite a bit.

I do find myself spending way more then in FO3, I guess it's because caps are a plenty even though things aren't cheap. I still cannot justify the expense of repairing my 10MM SMG though,

I dont have room in my build for Jury Rigging, but I am shooting to get my repair up so I can make repair kits. :)

Play on hardcoe mode, youll have to use some of those caps on basic neccesities likes water and doctors bags, or dont pick everything up, i hate having too much money in games as it seems like it becomes too easy, so i just limit my cap intake roleplay style.

Jury Rigging, I think, is the best perk in game. It will be in every build I have.
