Are you sold on Fallout 4?

That's my sentiments as well.

*That's the only thing to do with it anymore.

What excites me about the stream [the only thing really], is that there appears likely to be improved scripting where the mouse is concerned. That feature with the dog fetching the wrench could mean that the modder might have a built in feature to extract the clicked on location.... That could mean that it might be possible to script a point & click interface. If the dog can go where the player clicked, then the NPCs, and even the PC probably can as well.

I'll get it, and I may also pick up a version with all DLCs later on, time will show.

Some of my thoughts:

1) I have to watch it again, but I didn't spot any use of iron/proper sights for energy weapons. As long as I can build my own I'll be happy with it. I'd hate it if all I got was crosshair aiming.

2) No mention of a hardcoe mode covering basic needs, and later game items to lower the impact/annoyance level (such as an automatic canteen).

3) Graphically, I'm okay with what I saw. Not super high end like other engines, but 1st person immersion has higher priority for me.

4) Building/modding wise, I'm very happy with what I saw.

5) I will at least play through it once. But knowing their previous story writing, I don't think there is room for many playthroughs, like FONV.

6) Option to turn off voicing is a must (without having to "hack" away voice game assets).

I don't understand all the bitterness towards the game... I for one am happy to have a fallout 4, even if it isn't the same as what I personally envisioned.

Definitely better than not getting another fallout game, and better than getting Fallout 3.1.

Special was confirmed at least, so there is some evidence supporting skills and other RPG elements.

I just hope skill-locks or some other similar mechanic makes customization evolve with your character, instead of being completely open to the novice who can't wrap tape on their gun to keep it together to the next town.

Game looks like it has alot of features that I think adds replay value.

My only concern is:
"Can they deliver?"

Game looks like its great, but also looks as if it has serious glitch potential on release.

Since Im on PC modders Will likely iron those out fast or just as fast as Bethesda, so its not really a huge issue.

I like The early rocknroll tunes.

Im concerned about The story though. With this amount of New stuff i fear The writing May have taken a back Seat to gimmicks.

Modding of weapons and armour looks good, but since i havent used power armour in the last two games I doubt its a feature Ill use much.

I am very surprised at how grerat it looks, both graphics and gameplay. The customisation seems insane, always a good thing. I especially love how they did the power armor, because it isn't just clothing with a high armor-value but actually seems to make you a tank with a matching interface, and that you have to use fixed points to get into it will add to balance and immersion.

They also were inspired(stole)by mods like RTS this time, and it looks really fun-

But knowing Bethesda we ill surely have some unpleasant surprises waizing for us until release.

I am also torn about the voiced character. It has great potential, but knowing Bethesda it will likely be really bad and always black and white, but we know nothing about the story yet,so lets see.

Overall November can't come fast enough.

So they don't even pretend to make PRGs anymore? Well, at least they're honest about it

We'll see. It sure has potential, but since i've played their game since Oblivion, i'm sure they're unable to make use of it :hehe:

But the graphics sure looked pretty, that lighting alone makes a world of difference.

I don't like the sound of that Bethesda.net thing, remember, i have not bought a Ubisoft game since UNoPlay  Steam, Origin, GoG? Fine. But not another unnecessary online thing. And i still say if mods become restricted, i'll buy the GOTY edition (that it'll win a dozen from that presentation alone :lmao:) when it's 95% off, and i'm drunk :hehe:

Aaand once again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_n5E7feJHw0:hehe:

Knowing BGS, that's about as likely as the gameplay mechanics not svcking :teehee:

I'm even more pumped than after watching the first trailer. Wasteland Defence mechanics professionally developed by bethesda? Sign me the [censored] up!

I can't remember how many hours i wasted in Fallout 3 using a similar mod called "Real Time Settler" to build up and populate Springvale.

I like the Mass Effect style dialogue, makes the game more engaging when the main character is voiced. Can always turn the voice volume to 0 if you dont like it.

Definitely pre-ordering it when I get a chance. I do like the sheer amount of ambition they are putting into this.

Welcome to Skyrim 2015, lol. Modders are going to go nuts with Fallout 4. I can already hear the hamster wheels turning in their minds with plans for shelter, weapon and armor mods.

I might try my hand at a point & click UI once the price drops.

I expect that the first major mod we will see is a dialog (and conversation menu) replacer; probably with a sense of humor that re-writes how the PC responds, and what they initiate.
(One that removes all need for the PC voice files, and custom recorded player names.)
*Best if it does stat and skill checks before printing out the response options.

True*; but that's not really the issue for those that don't mind the voice as far as hearing it; but mind it for the severe limitations the feature imposes on dialog. Turning it off won't improve the dialog... Personally, I think it would be a shame to turn it off... That'll be the best thing in conversation.

*Though we don't actually know that there will be a PC voice-volume setting.

It would not surprise me if volume down didn't enable subtitles; and if subtitles weren't just the dialog options text.

Liked what I have seen so far.
My main concern is that all the good ideas that New Vegas added back into the game have been removed. eg:

Traits?
Joinable factions? Reputation system for those factions?
Choices and consequences - Can you be loved/vilified by a faction depending on your choices in the game ?

Main quest where you have multiple sides to choose from?

Lots of side quests? With different options on how to complete them - affecting reputation with factions?

Quests that you can fail?
Other companions? Do they have stories and side quests?
Hard core mode?

You know it. They'll probably have funny voice mods as well like Schwarzenegger or Joe Pesci voiceovers.

Factions will most likely return in New Vegas 2. Fallout 4 may have companion quests though.

Beth is a business. They have to walk a line between console and pew pew, and the old traditionalists.

Unfortunately that line seems to be closer to Mass Effect 3 Esque "Streamlining" the "BiowEAre" version, than the "planescape dialogue options up the kazoo" line. I undestad the fiscal reasons why. However logic lore and writing allways seems to take a hit when the former line is focused upon.

Heck no!

I was going to buy it on day one, but it looks like that I am going to wait until there are mods which address:

-the dialogue system

-a vault player home, if there isn't one

-alternate start for roleplayers

-better RPG systems

I'm hoping for a vault player home of some sort but I'm fine with building my own. I'm sure the modding community will be like kids in a candy store with this.

I do hope we can build our own personal vault and populate it with people.

That would be amazing. :)

If not, there's always mods.
