Post » Mon Oct 17, 2011 7:06 am

From what ive heard you press up on the D-pad PAUSING the game and then select what you want in each hand...i have also heard you get 2 anything hotkeys (left and right on the dpad) which you can put weapons or whatever on

what do you think of this system and if i am wrong plz tell me how its going to work

No idea, op.
I'd hate to pause the game to have to choose my weapon...but i guess its alright. It will most likely work out just fine!

I'm just afraid that M+KB is going to get the short end of the stick here and not allow us more than 2 hotkeys.

Couldn't have said it better. You get 2 hotkey items per hand OP. Two for left/two for right. So 4 hotkeys and the favorites menu.

4 directions on the dpad.
2 weapons for each hand?

Left on dpad is left hand hockey, right on dpad is right hand hotkey. I don't know exactly how it's done, but you either press it/hold it to cycle between the 2 items you can map to each hand. A preview mentioned that there'd 2 hotkeys per hand.

Hotkey system seems alright. What I want to know is if you can put a whole build on one of the two left/right hotkeys. e.g. armour, helmet, shield and sword on one, fancy town clothes set and medallion on another. Anyone know about this?

Its perfect. I dont mind the game pausing. The best RPGs pausethe game for making tactical decision, and this is gonna be among the best.

Besides, the idea of the Favorites menu outweighs the game being paused enormously. The hotkeying in Oblivion did not work right (on consoles, of course), so the new system is a good change.

There's still button mapping on PC, so I'm happy.

Nope, is been confirmed that PC gets the traditional #1-8 hot key set.

Pc has the new favorites menu, on top of the normal 1-9 hotkeys. Sounds right to me.

The xbox system sounds good too. Your goof to need that pause when you have 10 or more spells/items in your favorite menu, other wise a dragon will have bitten your face off before you've even managed to scroll to your fire spell, or what have you. I think the game won't pause for the left/right hotkeys, I'm just not sure how it will handle which hand the item gets mapped to. Unless they do a simple left for left right for right.

Being able to switch between 9 load outs of spells and weapons in realtime will be great!, oh and potions too. No going in any pause menu FTW.

We don't know how many there will be but I'm hoping we get 1-0 and not just 1-8.

It's an interesting idea, but I wouldn't go so far as to call it perfect before we all get our hands on it for some personal use. It may work perfectly right away, but it could very well svck 200 hours in. We'll just have to wait and see.

At first I didn't like the changes: I liked in Oblivion how I could map a weapon to the right bumper and a spell to my right trigger at the same time, giving me access to both without having to pause or change things during battle. But I've come to like the new idea. I know I can still change during battle if I need to, but it's going to force me to be a little more tactical in how I deal with things. I'm looking forward to the added challenge (it will have for me.)

How can you have 4 hotkeys and the favorites menu when there's only 4 buttons on the d-pad?The manual leak says up and down on the d-pad opens up the favorites menu, while left and right on the d-pad are for hotkeys.
