No Area 51 in DLC?

Post » Thu Sep 30, 2010 9:22 am

Let me give my opinion:
They already went an alien direction in Fo3, so they wouldn't want to repeat that again in another add-on (even if it's not in a space ship).

Now if you're talking about Area 51 just being a place with advanced military technology and a bunch of secrets, well Old World Blues (or whatever Add-on that will have The Big Empty in it, but I think it's OWB) is going to have The Big Empty which is a "Treasure trove of pre-war technology". IMO The Big Empty sounds much more interesting then some military base. Besides... does anyone else think that the whole "Area 51" thing is a bit cliche?

Yea but it fits in well with the dark comedy that is Fallout. I vote Quentin Tarintino to do the movie. That's his thing.

FO is all about cliche. all those cliche 50's advertising and what not.

when you think about it aliens were big in the 50's so they fit perfectly in FO.

at the top of the map somewhere there is a flying saucer with a couple of aliens around it. if you dont have WW then you get a kick-ass gauss rifle.

No I don t think it sounds chiche!!!!!! The big empty could be it, if is a51 I want to know when I get there. The game is close to Van Buren idea, not exactly like it, so big empty doen t have to be exactly like Van Buren. Van Buren BE sounds cool, but I d rater have some of those ideas at "Area 51"

I'm not talking about the scale. Nellis AFB is also where the boomers live so I assumed if they had put area 51 in the game, it would be around there somewhere.

sorry I edited my OP

does it take 1 min to run to Nellis from Vegas?????????? does it take 4 mins to get to Boulder City??????? The too far debate is invalid, because the map it not to scale for good reason. According to this map area 51 shoud be on the other side of the north passege.

Before the game came out it was said that area 51 is too far out of NV so it wasn't added

No. Area 51 is another base built at Groom Lake (a flat dry lake bed). It was built to test secret aircraft. Nellis AFB just oversees operations in the Nevada area.

Its the worst kept secret base in the World. Back during the Clinton era, the USA government finally admited the base is real and has been around for decades. They had to because people were getting sick and dying from the burning of very toxic chemicals at the base.

Its not like you can just through out top secret stuff at the local dump. They made big pitts and filled it with chemical waste and other items and burned them. They did that for as long as there was an Area 51. It got its name I believe became groom lake was in "Area 51" of Nellis' bomb range or a nuclear testing grounds map that was labled "Area 51."

If we see the base I hope there is alot of toxic chemicals and the base was nuked to hell like the Glow of Fallout. And no Aliens!

thing is, like it or not, aliens are part of the Fallout Canon. I'd rather not revisit them soon though, it's a shortcut to doing something else more imaginative.

Mothership Zeta can easly be called one big easter egg. Not everything in a DLC can be called canon for sure, like Operation: Anchorage. Its nothing but a big simulation and can't be trusted.

The Devs of Bethesda, have not called MZ canon at least I have not see anything about them doing so.

Aliens have been over done in MZ. It turned simple easter eggs into crap (MZ).

More Mothership Zeta type crap and Fallout will just become Fallout Resistance ot Fallout in Space :banghead:

hey fallout is a role playing game so yea sometimes imagine that i am a ninja (in game not in real life of course)
but it would be so awesome to get a ninja suit but what would its DT be it couldnt be that high since ninjas relied on their stealth and not armor...

In a terminal it says that that the OP: Anchorage simulation was innacurate...you have to look for it it's in the same building as the VR pod...in respect to what really happend in the battle that took place...

I find the whole aliens thing as a whole a bit hard to swallow. Mothership zeta is not my idea of a DLC. I kinda like DLCs or Expansions that explore other local areas not covered in the game.

In Fallout 3 for example: i Liked the pitt it was sort of local and was still in the east coast area.
Point lookout was great because it showed the more rural side of the Post-Apacaliptic World
The Ancorage Simulation was half-half, liked the idea, but didn't like the fact that for one it was
a Simulation, two it was in Ancorage literally 1000s of miles away
Broken Steel i was ok with
Mothership Zeta not another one so that goes the same for Area 51

Defense systems keep intruders out while aliens run amuk inside?
how about scientists have maintained it since the war, creating highly advanced technology. they see the rest of america "Tainted" by radiation therefore cutting themself off from the rest.

interesting

I`d like to see the abomination alien they were freaking funny with there big heads but I have to admit I don't want to see aliens as the main plot of area 51, but a small ET like sidequest about freeing a couple of aliens and letting them go free would be cool.

nice map Like I said groom lake is through the north passage.

Too far for the main game, but not too far for a dlc.

And again no reason for live aliens to be there.
