No Area 51 in DLC?

Post » Thu Sep 30, 2010 5:25 am

The game is set in Nevada and there's even Aliens in the region so including Area 51 in a DLC seems like a no brainer. No? There's all kinds of things they could do with that. Doesnt necessarily have to have Aliens in it. I just think it would be a waste if that location is never explored.

Well there is always the northern passage... Bit of explosives and hey presto, new location lol. Heck if they add-in some blockage-busting explosives some of the other caves might get a bit of an expansion too. The cave where the lame giant ant queen is looks like it should've been bigger. Camp guardian and some of the mines near the southern airport looks like they could be bigger too. There are many possibilities for hidden stuff. Last but not least is vault 21.... That HAS to figure more in the future I think... There has to be a reason 'not at home' sealed it all up...

I agree, I posted before that going by this map Groom Lake should be by Nellis through the north passage. The map isn t really to scale for good reason. Groom Lake is another name for the run way section of Area 51. It is a giant salt flat, that some say area 51 main research facilities are located under.

It s almost certain that Area 51 though it has buildings and hangers on the surface, the main reasearch facilities are located under ground or in a small mountain and under ground.

So all this talk of Big Empty and some Mt with high tech military equip. Sounds like Area 51 to me. There dosen t really need to be live aliens there. No one really knows what they do there.

Some scientists that say they worked at Area 51 (no proof) say that they reverse engineer alien tech there. They say the micro comp. chip , microwave oven and some other stuff were based from alien tech. (no proof).

I never heard of a mountain in the game though.. I believe big 'M T' is people just typing phonetically for empty? Big empty being a representation of a huge salt flat sound plausible though, and the facility being beneath it fits with the rest of the game too.. Here's hoping. :)

They also say that the B-2 Stealth bomber and F-117 Stealth fighter were developed there(no proof)

All anyone really knows that if you try to hard to find out they will kill you. I was watching a show where some area 51 junkies were getting close to area 51 no fly zone, they sent up 2 F-16s and came over the radio and said "This will be your only warning, turn back now or we will shoot you down"

Ground security is just as ruthless you can t get within 6 miles of the place. Motion sensors, and heat sensors, government agents in 4×4 trucks r all over.

Writers and devs could have a field day with this place. It would be sad to not include it in this game. They really don t even need aliens there. The U.S. govnment does not appreciate the use of area 51 in fictional stories.

They were going to help some with the movie Independence Day until they found out area 51 would be in the movie. Then they would not help with the aircraft, or fighter pilot jargon, or the way it really all goes down.

Well, you could potentially go to "Area 2", where the Boomers got their big guns from. Would be similar to Area 51, but without the dodgy alien connotations.

Actually I read someone saying that the DLC will let you go to somewhere "you never ever expected to go to". So that could be Area 51. But the whole 51 idea has been shot down constantly as too far, too bizarre. So I doubt it.

I ve heard it all before. Too far- I think it takes more than 4mins to run from Vegas to Boulder city. The map is not even close to scale.
Too bizarre-Some peope don t want to see aliens, becase Bethesda put aliens in their fallout. They hear Area 51 and think aliens. Though there dosen t have to be aliens at all.

Too bizarre- Ghost people............. thats all Im saying. I went with it.
Too bizarre- Plasma Rifle...... I love them, but do you have any idea how impossible that is???? Laser Rifles ok, but Plasma Rifles???? I just go with it.

Whats wrong with having aliens anyway? I'd personally love to get a vending machine recipe for alien power cells... :)

I really be pissed if we go to Area 2 because there are not howitzers at Area 51 there would be no need for them with all the air power around. Maybe Plasma howitzers. Area 51 is about cutting edge tech. Not guns that were in WW1. Now that would piss me off.

The "too far" argument is silly. In FO3 you could go to Pittsburg, Maryland and an Alien Spaceship orbitting the Earth. They're either digging down deep for a reason not to include it in the game or they're just staying quiet about it.

I think you're maybe forgetting that Fallout is like a parallel universe. Not exactly the same as ours... Perhaps in their retro-futuristic world they 'had' howitzers at area 51?

Bethesda put them in and anything Bethesda did is not welcome by some no matter if it was fun or not. Now I personally could do without aliens in this one since we just had them in the last one, but area 51 does not need aliens to make it good. Alien encounters should not be common placed. (unless they were going to take over) So dead aliens in big jars pointing to the reason behind some advanced tech would be fine.

Yeah, I would at least like to know why Mr. House sealed up 21 like that. Only part is not covered with concrete?

And I agree Big empty seems like its screams Area 51. but thats just a guess.

Long ago when the New Vegas speculation forums was here there were at least 20 area 51 threads at one time or another. I too long ago supported the Aliens in goo tubes idea. No actual combat or meeting with aliens, maybe fine a few holodisks on what was gonig on there.

I remember seeing a mod for a personal hologram unit system, fun mod and you could pick between security gaurd and Vera, I'd like to find something like that.

Perhaps seeing as the alien encounter in NV (albeit only a WW encounter) happens on the northern side of the map... I guess that is somewhat of a stretch but, perhaps there are a few aliens. Doesn't have to be a hoarde, a few would be fine and the explanation for the previous WW encounter would be they were planning a rescue?

Hmm I don't know, I just want to shoot my alien blaster more without worrying about my ammo reserves....

Mr House sealed up Vault 21 because it connected up with his underground lair. Sooner or later someone would work that out, and work out how to get in there. Which would be.. bad. Makes sense - if you're bedding in under Lucky 38, you wouldn't want just one door - what if a nuke landed on the 38? He'd never get out again. So of course there is a back door - via Vault 21. However, after the war, when it seemed inevitable that he would have to confine himself to his pod, Mr House made sure no-one could get to him in that vulnerable position. His securitrons guard the Lucky 38, but down in the vault? No, that's a weak-spot, he is vulnerable. So he seals it up.

What I want to know, is exactly HOW he sealed it up? Where did he get the concrete? How did he get it into the vault? It looks like it was poured in there from Mr House's side, rather than a bunch of securitrons going down into the vault with buckets to concrete. So maybe he had plans and machines to do it already set in place.

For what in fo universe the tech is way past ours. They would be useless when you are sitting next to a U.S. Airforces base, and you are an airport for who knows what your self.

Writers can do what they want, but if go to any kind of "Area" and there is not cutting edge tech there I won t be happy.
O K Maybe they made area 51 have a firebase before the war just in case.

Where did you learn this? Was this only dialogue available in the Mr. House main quest or some terminal in the Lucky 38 or vault 21?

Use it so much? I'm a collector, I've never actually used it. I would however, if I knew it was possible to get replacement ammunition. Even if it was ridiculously expensive/difficult to obtain. Right now though it's impossible to replace.
