[Relz] Arefu Expanded v1.0 by Azar

Post » Tue Apr 12, 2011 2:10 pm

I did some cleaning up of the redundant RACE entries with v1_4. Load order also seems to play a factor, so try different load orders in your mod manager (I am running these files at the very bottom).

Thanks everyone for the support (and bug reports :|)!!

A few more entries you should remove from the esm:

WeapSledgehammer "Sledgehammer" [WEAP:00004351] (just plain uncecessary)
Block 0 - Sublock 4 needs to be deleted, it messes with the lock data on Tenpenny's door
Several dialogue topics need to be checked
Megaton Worldspace

You should slap a filter on your esm in FO3Edit and take a look at all entries that conflict with Fallout3.esm and remove all entries that are identical or otherwise unnecessary.

Edit: I also forgot, this mod sorta "breaks" the Megaton settlers one liners. I mean it's nothing that really matters gameplay wise(I mean who care about them really), but it's better to create new dialogue entries, rather than reassigning existing ones.

I'm looking forward to seeing the updated version. I don't know if it would cause any problems in the game, but I saw a ton of apparently unintentional cell changes in the GECK.

This looks like an awesome mod, but I have no intention of using the hairpack. I use my own combined hair mod, and I'm not willing to give it up just to play a quest mod (even if it is a good quest mod).

It is possible to make your hair mod the master rather than hairpack, though it may require some - or an ungodly amount of - work in FO3E to make things function properly.

Ok, I've downloaded ver 1.5 and I am still getting a CTD.

Here is my load order. I've turned everything off except the essentials.
Again, when I turn off Arefu Expanded esm & esp, no CTD.

Edit: I ran FO3Edit conflict check and received no conflicts.

Are the bug issues resolved - this looks like one of the best mods yet for FO3 as it overall enhances the gameworld in an immersive way.

I'm still getting CTD's after using 1.5... I just have FO3, Darn's and Arefu Expanded turned on and getting crashes.

Once I turn off Arefu Expanded, no crashes. Load order above.

I really love what he did for Arefu... just wish I can get my crashes fixed.

@Kai Hohiro: Did yo start a new game? Or turned on mod in mid-game?

Seems to me- yes. At list- I give buffaut to him, and he don't have it after while. As well as stims.

After this heads fit with bodies more precisely- in color

hello, saw/used an earlier version of this mod and it had all the world edits and buildings entered in okay, no biggie, the updated-ness of it all seems nice, keep it up yo ^____^

Updated the main page a bit with the v1.5 updates, and some new screenies. I think I've cleaned up most of the problems with the earlier ESMs.

BlizzofOZ, I can't see anything wrong with your load order. You have the Mart's Mutant Mod esm below mine, which is good. Did you run FO3edit's masterupdater after consolidating your load order? Unfortunately, occasional crashiing will occur, since there is so much stuff for the game to load (scripts, objects, new npcs), AND everything is in the wasteland (as opposed to Megaton). For me most of the crashes occur when the game hiccups as it is loading something in the horizon (ie. at the base of the bridge, which is where Arefu starts getting loaded into memory). I've had success with reducing the crashes by scaling down the object/tree/light fade settings a bit, as well as other graphics settings. You might want to try that.

I'm really enjoying this mod. Thanks!

It is much like an adventure game. Search for this item, talk to this charcter, figure out how your different objectives interconnect... And this I find a lot of fun. It's more intricate, more unified than, say, Megaton's many characters and mini-quests. Also, the physical expansion of Arefu is very well done. On top of all this, the pre-existing interaction with Arefu/Blood Ties is unbroken and even enhanced by the expansions.

I have traced my crashes back to Arefu Expanded. It is quite good and I can live with the crashing until I have completed the quests. So,.....

Great. What does this mean?

- If you load this mod and you didn't complete the "Blood Ties" quest yet, that quest remains unfinished

I haven't even started Blood Ties....

Zanderat you can still complete blood ties even with the mod.

And Azar I noticed that you incorporated hair pack into your mod, so I got to play it! Thank You very much. I had a lot of fun with the quests and I've been making use of the new home ever since. This is really a great mod.

Mart's mutant mod's esp (all of them) should probably be last in your load order.
I would put DCinterior and Busworld lower too.
Fellout and streetlight (esp, not the esm) should be lower to avoid the change they made to be overwritten.
I would put Arefu expanded.esm below the unofficial patch and project beauty (not sure about this one, I'm not using it).
Also, using the master update function of fallout 3 edit (available on nexus) could help.

Can someone elaborate the whole master update thingy with FO3edit? Has anyone done it and solved the crashes associated with this mod? This is a great mod, but its causing countless crashes on an otherwise fine game  And I do have the esm loaded above MMM as told.

I'd hate to have to untick that check box in FOMM.

edit: I also read it was conflicted with the crowded cities mod so I unchecked it. Since I'm still crashing, is crowded cities going to even make a difference? I like the better population and the arefu expanded mod so don't make me choose :cold:

I hope my words will not be taken as offensive.
For me now fallout 3 work just fine mostly. No crashes and other fanny stuff.
But in Arefu area things more complicated, probably due to some vanilla issues. So- yes, even without Arefu Expanded, this place not very friendly.
With Arefu Expanded number of problems increased. This is very good mod, but it can overcumber even not bad computers, so crashes increasing is possible. Especially when we leave Arefu or enter this place.
From another side- this crashes don't broke anything in the game or saves, so long time I live with it.
Masterupdate can help, yes- for some degree

I started using crowded cities again and the crashing has subdued a lot. I'm aware that the mod does a lot of stuff, I was actually wondering if it was just errors or problems that just causes the crashes. I have other mods that change a lot of stuff and they never crashed anything.

Well, I'll just keep playing and see if it continues to not crash.

If your situation is similar to mine, then your crashes will stop when you acquire vault and will stop to visit Arefu itself.

I found that I could have Arefu Expanded in my load order just fine, but it caused crashing like mad when I was trying to play it (only when I was in the vicinity of Arefu I mean). So I just powered through, because it was so fun, and then took it back out of my load order when I was done. I was playing with a reasonably small number of active mods at the time, 40 or so probably, including MMM. I had not done Master Update which I should have tried, but I assumed, since my issues were only in Arefu that it was due to my barely adequate laptop.

If I'm reading that right, you're saying the crashes stop when you visit Arefu? I've been to Arefu a few times now, and started many of the quests.

I'd say my computer is at least a little more than barely adequate. It doesn't really crash much when in Arefu itself, but when I was under the bridge doing one of the quests it would crash like mad. In areas away from Arefu like closer to Megaton, it would still crash, but not often at all. I've got a few quests to finish there, and some require higher skills. I dunno if I want to just turn it off for now

My previous question remains, what exactly is the master update and how do I do it? I have FO3edit but I don't really know how to use it....

Here is the link to the Nexus page for Miaximus' FO3Edit Training Manual. If you go download it there are instructions in it on what to do. The manual is fabulous for helping you use FO3Edit for what it can do. I recommend it highly.
