Arena and Windows 7

Post » Thu Jan 27, 2011 12:53 am

While trying to install Arena in the command prompt like the instructions say it said that the 16 bit program is not compatible with the 64 bit program and I've searched around the forums and the internet and I still have no answer, can anyone help me with this?

He was indeed not using DOSbox.

I suppose if I want to run some of my ancient Windows programs (things like Wintex -- a DooM editor, not a TeX editor), I would need to install an old version of Windows within DOSbox. That could be a fun experiment.

No I was using DosBox but Bethesda's install notes says to use the command prompt to install it.

I had a look in the doc provided with the game. It's a little worrying that they included a doc file in the first place. I don't even have a program on this computer that can read it. I see what you mean. Those instructions look weird. I wonder if perhaps the installer had issues with an older version of DOSbox.

At any rate, it's good to know. That will confuse more people and now I won't be so confused when they ask about it on here.

I wish I could help you, I forget what I did. all I can do is give you the DosBox set I have and email it to you so you can at least run it, then install it from DOS if you so like. PM me and let me know if you would like that.

I had trouble installing it as well, so basically I used my Daggerfall set up, and where it said Daggerfall I deleted it and put in Arena, that's how I got Arena (and Masters of Orion to work yes I know off topic, but so happy to play that game again LOL) and got it going. Again PM me and I will send it to you.

make shure you hit the cntl F10 or is it cntrl F12 many many times, I usually go up to 30 000 cycles, and it runs super fast wich I like since traveling in cities makes it more bareable now for me.
