ES 1 - Arena assets

Post » Sun May 01, 2011 3:12 pm

Since Arena (full game) is now a free download from Beth... I loaded it up in DOSBox and played for a while last night. I was curious about the contents of global.bsa but could not find a tool that will open it (BSA Commander, OB Mod Mgr, etc. fail). Anyone try this?

You may want to try http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showforum=15.

I personally have never heard of a tool that would reveal the secrets global.bsa.

There are some programs out there that you can use to crack the saved files, though.

Well I mod for OB and I can extract resources from both OB and MW using BSA Commander, BSA Unpacker, etc. but I can not find a program that can handle the format of the global.bsa in Arena. I get 'unsupported format' or version errors.

Arena is ancient, I doubt there is a program out there that can open them, or if there is, its most likely not around. However, there is a way to get a lot of the files out, but I don't believe any from global.bsa, search 'WinArena', it can export a lot of the parts of the game.

Thanks. I'll try that when I get home but I thought WinArena could only extract map data not actual resources. I'll have a look though.
