Arena/Daggerfall re release

I am curious as to the possibility of a re release of Arena and Daggerfall. I know that they are for download, but there are people like me who for one reason or another cannot get them to install or play. This being said, (and at the expense of being repetitive) I was wondering if there was any possibility or even desire for a re release of Daggerfall and Arena, possibly even in a double pack. I know that the technology is out there for this and there are many games already revamping and releasing older games. I also thing it would be great if they were released for consoles for those of us who aren't big on PC gaming. I would love to get everyone's feed back, and who knows, if enough of us want it we just might get it.

Yes, for consoles only, since we already have them for PC. Did you know that there's a self-installing, self-launching version that doesn't require you to use DOS? It basically makes them into regular windows applications. The downloads are up on UESP.

I'm pretty sure Bethesda said they lost the Source code for the older TES games so to revamp it they'd have to entirely recreate everything in the programming aspect of it.

Those just install DOSbox and configure it. Clever idea, but you don't always end up with an optimal configuration.

They would probably have to rewrite huge portions of the code anyway. Not only is it very platform-specific, it's buggy, unfinished and possibly uses licensed code they couldn't release even if they had it. Console versions would require redesigns just to be playable.

Your best bet for any olde TES games being playable without DOSbox is definitely http://xlengine.com/. If/when Lucius finishes it Daggerfall will be a lot more interesting than just a re-release would be.

I found the version that installs itself, thanks Lady Nerevar for telling me about it, it sure beats hammering it out with dos box :)
