hi threre,

there are only two things i can think of:

- your detail bar is too much to the right (usually i leave it at 1/3, close to little detail, as Arena does not have so much detail...);

- cycles too low - check the link below, i think pressing Ctrl + F12 can speed things up, but read this anyway.

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/General:Playing_DOS_Installments_under_DOSBox

It plays real fine by me. And I am on Windows 7...

Follow the advice above. My rule of thumb for increasing the cycles is to Ctrl+F12 until the music starts to skip (you have to tap it, you can't hold it) and then from there Ctrl+F11 slowly until the music straightens back out. Also, when you are finished playing that session, make sure you press escape and click "Drop to DOS." Make note of the last number of cycles displayed, and then open the configuration file for Arena (if Arena is the only game you play on DosBox you can just edit the DosBox options, but I highly recommend following the instructions pinned to the top of this forum in the topic "How to get the past games to run" to make a seperate config for Arena) (mine are in C:\Program Files (x86)\DOSBox-0.74) and look for the line that says 'cycles=auto' and change that to 'cycles=fixed xxxxx' where xxxxx is the last number of cycles you noted when you last exited DosBox. Don't forget to go to File at the top and click Save. This way you won't have to adjust the cycles (Ctrl+F11, Ctrl+F12) every time you start Arena.
