Arena Lore

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 5:29 am

I've recently really ben getting into TES lore,i used to play Morrowind but never properly played it(just ran around killing more or less, wish i would have ben able to understand the awesomeness that is Morrowind when it came out) and over the past 6 months have ben playing it allot for the lore.I also got Daggerfall running afew weeks ago and have ben playing it off and on,though i havent had the time to really start it.

The question is,in the first game Arena is there much lore related stuff?

From the little i've seen of the game im kind of doubting much is there, and sadly i havent ben able to get it to run using DOSBox..if there is any major lore related things in the game i may buy an older computer with XP and try getting it to run(i enjoy the lore that much :P) or if there isnt a whole lot to it maybe theres a place i can read about it?

Any help as to what Arena is lore-wise would be awesome!

I did afew searches, sorry if this has already ben posted.

There's Lore in Arena but the general direction and feel of the series has changed dramatically since that time, and about all that remains is the basic Provinces, the Races (all of which weren't even present in Arena. Imperials weren't represented by a distinct race.) and the Daedra and Aedra, although many other Gods were also mentioned during this point in time, which were not mentioned since in any source whatsoever, which leads me to believe most Arena lore has been retconned in favor of the stuff that came in Daggerfall and since then.

As a rule of thumb, only pay attention to the Arena lore that has been mentioned since. IIRC, the events of the MQ are summarized in Biography of Barenziah.

Hmm,ok.

So the lore isnt really worth spending money buying a computer that can run it(one without vista :shifty: ) over then?

I can run Arena without problem on my Vista laptop... You just need DOS Box.

whoa, didn't read that part.

90% of Arena's lore has got to be here: http://www.imperial-library.info/places/

Last I checked it didn't even have books and the dwarves were short, beard Scotsmen.

After a couple months tinkering with it over 3 computers using DOSBox i gave up,it seems to be no problem though..i was just wondering if i was missing major lore by not playing Arena.

And thanks allot for the link, site looks cool..feel stupid for not knowing it existed.

The next person who says that...actually, no, I can't send exorcists round to your house, can I? Unlike a few other people who said it in various forms, I don't know your address. Shame. I kind of wish I did, because the last time I tried it was funny. Expensive, though :D

But no, Arena's lore isn't worth much. A few gods and goddesses came and went in it, and unless you really want to try and work out who they were then don't bother. There are more important things to do, like discuss the Dwemeri disappearance for the thousandth time.
