Arena MIF files

Hello all,

I'm a bit of a tinkerer, just doing some stuff that catches my interest at the moment without much of a definite goal or anything.

The other day I kinda started wondering about Arena data files, and began looking at them with some tools. WinArena was quite impressive.

What interested me the most, however, were the dungeons and city maps. In the source code of WinArena I saw that these were stored in the MIF files, which seem to be not yet understood. WinArena provides its own files for the first dungeon and for a city that it loads.

This sounds like a fun challenge, so here's a few questions:

Have the MIF files really never been decoded properly (if yes, I won't bother trying to repeat the feat, but I would still be interested taking a look at their structure).

If no, does anybody per chance know which MIF file contains the first dungeon, or a specific city? That would make starting out a lot simpler, otherwise it's kind of a puzzle with many tiny bits of which you don't know the final picture...
