Arena PvP in ESO? 2v2 - 3v3 - 4v4?

Post » Sat Mar 29, 2014 11:58 am

Yes, Yes! A thousand times yes!!! (lol)

I voted for 3v3 and 4v4, 2v2 is too small imo and too hard to balance around. As far as arena locations, I checked almost all of them. Free world, instanced, in cyrodiil, outside cyrodiil, its all good. Just as long as there is some structured competitive pvp in this game(no cyrodiil is not this).

State your opinion in the opening post, not on a poll choice. Your opinion on a poll choice is asking people to agree with your reasons why they vote "yes" or "maybe", instead of simply voting yes or maybe.

You fixed it and now it is a fair poll.

It would piss many off that is for sure.

If i could get the same gear playing the normal zerg PvP , i would not mind , if i could not , i would prefer they never added it and would vote for no heh.

IMO its not structured in Cyrodiil because no players have tried to structure it past shouting where the horde is going next or gank-gangs that set ambushes everywhere. Nothing stopping players from setting up their own events, all they have to do is find like-minded players and hammer out rules/CoC/etc.

I am actually fond of arenas but no - http://wow.joystiq.com/2009/11/13/blizzard-arenas-were-a-mistake/

Classes would have to be balanced to the point of becoming identical with just different effects and animations.

True, it would miff off some. But either they'd have to svck it up and go without or svck it up and join in. Their choice.

Irrelevant and overused to be honest. This is not WoW, this game has not been out for years, and the classes in ESO are balanced very differently.

I wouldn't even want them to get the same gear as other methods of playing. Queuing up for "wheee everybody wins a little something" supplemental gear farming cheapens other methods of attaining gear that does not guarantee success.

You dont need arena matches. Dont follow the zerg! run a roaming group and fight other enemy roaming groups. This is actually more competative than any system arena match. There will be spots designate don the map as the group vs group area as well as the duel area. remember it is a massive map. You can stay close to the zerg and use your sneak and pick of people and ambusg and be aparts of teh small skirmishes. Every type of PVP exists in Cyrodiil

Quite relevant and it is as "overused" as these kind of threads.

Being out for years doesn't have anything to do with it, nor classes being balanced differently does. If anything it will be even worse in ESO because the lines between PVE and PVP skills are much more "vague" as they are in WoW where a good number of skills are mostly used for either PVE or PVP only. I played WoW vanilla to cataclysm and I have seen the classes being leveled to the ground and anything unique they had destroyed - mostly because of them having to create the perfect arena balance.

You pretty much just contradicted yourself.

And anyway, your arguments from WoW just don't make sense. Most of the homogenization that happened to classes in WoW happened because of PVE, not Arena. If you are mainly a PvE players, and don't like Arena, I can see why you would point fingers at it saying "you messed up my class!", but that doesn't mean it is true. The bottom line is, the classes became fairly homogenized because they took a PvE game and tried to make balanced PvP with it.

This game is a PvP and PvE game from the start, so it is not the same scenario. Balancing for both will certainly be a challenge, but you cant really use WoW as an example. Blizzard =/= ZOS.

I myself voted no... who needs arenas with the super fun pvp that is already existing in Cyrodiil? :D

It would be really nice if we have 1v1 first.

Not everybody is a casual. (Not saying there is anything wrong with playing casually).

Some players simply want a competitive and pure PvP avenue to play in.

I agree with this...

Dueling is such a staple in any MMO, I find it crazy they did not include it at launch.

i dont like, but why all the hate? more optios are always better. i think it's possible to implement a form of such structured competetive pvp which fits well into the tes-world. it's much better then a "battleground" where you hunt flags for points...

Really hoping it'll get a little better after release, and then again a few months down the road when this doesn't happen.

What does enjoying the current PvP have to do with being casual exactly?

The contradiction is in your head.

Wow PvP servers were much more PVP than ESO is. Almost resembled a free pvp world in vanilla. Battleground patches came soon after. They certainly designed Wow with PVP in mind. Don't know why you would think the opposite.

And I am both a PVEer and a PVPer. Even the developers themselves say that most of the changes and balancing aka homogenization they had to do was because of PvP and Arena specifically, so who are you to say otherwise?

Zerg PvP, PvDoor PvP, and the chaos or randomness of roaming can be fun, but it is not truly competitive. So what else would you call it? I guess you can have hardcoe RvRers who spend all their time in Cyrodiil zerging, but as far as the method of PvP overall is concerned, I would still classify it as casual pvp. You can say its not technically correct if you want, but I cant think of a better word to use.

How about non-competitive.

Well, for one, PvP balance would never necessitate that every class get the exact same buffs like +5% this, +10% that. That was all PvE.

As far as WoW being a PvE game, that was taken from the precious article people like to use against Arenas, it wasn't my opinion.
