Arena Robes for Mages Mod?

Post » Tue Mar 08, 2011 9:24 pm

I've got Kristoffer's "Arena Robes 1.0" installed, and the robes are showing up in the cabinet. But Owyn keeps telling me I'm not ready (not even wearing my raiment). So I switch to the light, but then put on the robes when I get to the pit.

The announcer disqualifies me.

In short, it seems this mod does not work.

Any suggestions on one that does?

Mages shouldn't have to wear armor and take the spell effectiveness hit. That is bullhocky.

Thanks! :)

That search function on Nexus is the pits. Every one I found doesn't work. Looking forward to checking this one out. The fact it is OMOD prepped says a lot.

Dang. Still not working. The robes are there, and even the option from Owyn to choose mage raiment. But when I put them on, he says "Ready? You call that read? . . ."

I wonder if one of my other mods, such as "Robes Over" might be causing the problem?

My character dresses only for fashion and asked me to do something about that spell effectiveness penalty when she goes adventuring with cloth pants and blouse and leather boots. In fact she wears her pretty Arena raiment out to adventure in sometimes because it looks nice. Oh, well let me get to my point. I got her a tiny (1kb) mod called Spells Be Effective. It simply reduces all armor penalties to 0 regardless of what you wear. My point being that if she fights in the Arena, she wears her light raiment and has 100% spell effectiveness. I know this is not exactly what you're looking for, but it is awfully simple and works perfectly to preserve full spell effectiveness without having to worry about what your character decided to wear. I have used that mod a long time and it works flawlessly.

What about removing Robes Over briefly, then trying Mage of the Arena?

Less Annoying Magic Experience has a "bound arena robe" spell. Maybe you can give it a shot.

It was a conflict with Robes Over. Turning RO off and the Mage of the Arena works great!

I've thought about trying LAME for a long time. My only reservation has been that, it sounds like it make magic even more powerful than it is in vanilla? Also, would it mess up a save, or woudl I really need to start a new character. Maybe when I get tired of this character I could start a new one with LAME. Is LAME the best balanced and least overpowering of the magic overhaul mods?

My Altmer mage is I think level 7 or 8. Has Frostcrag fully outfitted, and has made some good spells, namely "Defense I" (25% shield for 54 sec) and "Shocking Fist" (Shock 18pts for 2 sec + Absorb Health 14pts for 2 sec). With those two spells, and the arena robes (as well as a bunch of magical jewelry that buff skills) I've mowed down ever opponent so far, no problem. Bloodletter rank in one day!

Magic is pretty crazy powerful in this game.
