Arena 1.7 is the CD verison, it's not illegal

There is a fan made "setup program" made by some fans that care about the series. It requires that you have the Official 1.7 CD release, so I don't see how that's pirated. It just helps people who own the CD version run it on modern systems under DOSbox.

Moderators: When people are asking for help, please research something before you lock the thread. I could be wrong, but I think the person asking for help just made a mistake in semantics, he's not talking about pirated software. UESP is a pretty well known (and reputable, afaik) Elder Scrolls site.

The Elder Scroller - I hope someone else can shed a little more light on your problem, but I think the problem may be you are using a setup program intended for the Arena CD (ver 1.7) to run the Bethesda free release (version 1.6).
You may have to uninstall (keep your saves or back them up) and reinstall the Bethesda 1.6 version. Either that or look for the CD version on Ebay or Amazon or something.

It's not pirated as far as I know. It's a bunch of files that should update the game to 1.07.

I guess it could be illegal due to those files being Bethesda property, but since Bethesda hasn't released a patch or the CDrom version, there's really no harm in it. It's basically the same as the Morrowind Code Patch, only this version is an offical Bethesda release. I can't see the one being illegal and the other allowed.
