[WIP|RLS] Arenovalis's Weapon Retexture Project

Post » Sun Jun 13, 2010 12:53 am

Hi, Millenia.

I've always been a fan of your work. For that, I want to thank you.

Now, if I can suggest a little something : if the time to retexture This Machine comes for you, would you be interested into doing a non-unique (without the Commie message) of the texture you'll be doing ? That way people would be able to use the non-unique texture for a M1 Garand ... In FOOK, for example ^^ what do you think of it ?

Cheers

I actually started on it yesterday, lol. Nice timing :P

Since I couldn't praise Millenia's work enough, I guess I'll just give my little tiny bit of criticism: was giving all the guns names on their textures necessary? It mostly bothers me for some of the guns that were clearly inspired but not quite copied from real life, like the anti-materiel rifle. It's really a tiny thing though, and it's certainly not going to stop me from using these awesome retextures. They make a huge difference compared to vanilla.

Well, I like trying to make them as close to their RL counterparts as possible, that's just my opinion though.

Well, of course, mine's just a personal preference. They're great textures either way and I won't deprive myself of them just because a tiny detail like that :P

Nice work as always Arenovalis. When are you going to release the complete version which includes This Machine and recently fixed Hunting Rifle retexture? Or should we be waiting for more new surprises from you? :D

You unpack them from the BSA files. Check out the Construction Set and GECK wiki sites for some tutorials.

Most FO3 modding techniques apply for New Vegas.

The tools I use are:

Nifskope
3ds Max
Photoshop
Fallout Mod Manager

Oh, and I released the light machinegun. First post as always :)

Also updated my pack

3ds Max is commercial 3d software, there are free alternatives to it (Blender is probably your best bet in that case)

You could just have googled for these. Nifskope is for converting 3d models to the engine's 3d format and tweaking them.

Agreed. Looking great as always! Ehm, do you intend to expand this to melee and/or armors in the future? You have a great talent for this :)

There are still a bunch of weapons that need a lot of work.
