[WIP] Argonia

Post » Sat Jun 19, 2010 10:13 am

Excellent job on the geography and ruins. They are amazing. However, and this is just me, I feel like the redwoods are a little to coniferous for someplace as "equatorial" as Argonia. I would expect similar, large trunked trees, but with fewer branches on the lower half, and a more globular, circular canopy. Vines. Mangroves at the edge of the water gripping the eroded edges of Ayleid masonry. Ferns. Saplings.

The redwoods arent part of Argonia, they are of the Great Forest in Cyrodiil. I started a second project and have just kept its updates within the Argonia thread so those are from a different thing, not Argonia.

Gotcha, just watching your vids now and it all makes sense. Darkmoor is about perfect. The mangrove forest and the vast, mostly featureless wetlands. Very much like the Everglades or coastal rainforest. I don't know if you do animations, but unique animals would rock this place out. I imagine crocodile like animals, big cliffracers with deadroth heads for hackwings, some kind of panther.

This is really cool. I'd like to offer my help in any way possible if you're looking for it. If not, then a simple good luck from me will have to suffice. I really like what you're doing here, and your work is simply amazing.

How did I miss that video? Looks amazing, as always. I hope releasing it as a resource doesn't mean you are giving up work on Cyrodil entirely?

Took a lil visit to the Great Forest after taking a break. Really love the fog and whatnot. Also, in a few sots you should be able to see the Jerall Mountains outline.

While Cyrodiil has been brought back into a replanning stage, Ive started working on boosting up Greenway Coast with boosting Darkmoor as a second priority.

So I have a question for anybody who can answer it.
Is it possible to script objects/npcs to appear/disappear on certain days? So, say I want a village to move to a different location every ten days or so as it follows its food source or whatever. Is it possible?
And if it is possible is there anyway to have MGE generate the statics correctly without regenerating them every few days?

Second thing, I already have all the regions already mapped out, with Murkwood, the large inhabitable swamp being pretty much the center of Argonia. Does anybody besides me think that instead of creating Murkwood as its own region I should take areas all around Murkwood and including Murkwood and add them to a region entitled "Uncharted" or "Unknown"? That way when you play the game you cant rely on your map to save you. I also am thinking about taking locations and not naming them in the editor, so that just because you found a settlement once, you dont just get a box on your map you can go right back to.You hae to search for it repeatedly.

As far as progress, I have made about 10 new plants/ferns/bushes for the Greenway Coast and after I finish renaming and organizing all the meshes/textures I will be able to post a video of how it looks. Theres a chance that will mean tonight but no promises.

As far as im aware it is possible to make certain objects and whatever move around depending on different days. Don't ask me how but im pretty certain its possible. My require script extender but im not 100%
And im not sure about MGE either, but there is probably a work around somehow

And personally i would name the regions and placenames n the editor, just makes sense to me, i know what your saying though, but i think it just helps follow suite if you know what im saying :hubbahubba: . Try and name as fewer cells as possible though.

Not very helpful i know, but i thought id just show you i noticed and im interested :P

Keep up the good work :goodjob:

If anyone discovers one, it really needs to be put into use for the strongholds/ravenrock.
