Argonia wip

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 6:06 am

By any chance have you ever seen http://i489.photobucket.com/albums/rr256/ericthered1090/ArgonianStatue.jpg before? It sounds like you've been looking at MJY's stuff. This is his :)

I can send you the individual mesh if you like.

I just thought given the nature of this mod, this might interest you.

I am in need of a place to put two Argonian villages.

Um, I think I found it. ^_^

Seriously, I've been considering where to place the mod I am working on.

I think this is perfect. I will be watching this closely. How do you feel about after-mods based on this project? Because I am looking to put this mod either in the Blackmarsh of yours, or on TR area 6. I don't want to warp the swamps of Vvardefel you understand.

The creatures, obviously, vary depending on where in Argonia you are.

The first area Im going to release is mostly marsh and coastal areas, so expect creatures that spawn from underwater and venture onto land. There will be a lot more variety than that, but for now thats that.

That does indeed svck, although you haven't been the 1st modder to do such a thing-not even close actually  . So don't let it get to you. At the very least you already know what you need to remake, which isn't what a lot of modders that have done this before could admit.

By the way. Did those papers I wrote come in handy any? I'd be surprised if you'd read through it all yet.

Update.
Started work on the section 2 again, which includes Crimson Isle, Seafalls (the best city/town/village as far as aesthetics and scenery, imho), The southern portion of hankja coast, the northern portion of the klamahee mangroves region, and,the largest chunk, marshlands (forgot the name of the region). Ive gotten permission to use an extremely good texture pack and have tweaked them to fit perfectly with my own textures.

The plan is to mold the landscape to the idea i have for it, create region-specific modders packages, then open the mod up to the community. So, not to far from now

Actually yes, those papers were a big help, and if they really are the ones Im thinking of then I read them the first day you sent the, to me.

Thanks for those.

Ill get back to you on this later when I find some pictures. I cant really go outside and take pictures, seeing as in Wisconsin we have plenty of Oak and Pine, but not a single tropical-type texture. Thanks much.

Do you need bamboo pics I live down in Georgia and I have a forest of bamboo like 100ft away from my house

Hello Zackg.
IMHO, to show only one landscape texture is not correct...
Maybe you can show us something more :)?
Thanks.

I don't think you understand the grandeur of what he is doing...
He is making an entire province, I'm pretty sure he is still just making the landmass, it will be a while until cities and such get added

but once again awesome Argonians are my fav

The cities have been flattened and given one random texture to mark their outline, but ever snce my comp crashed I havent reinserted them into the map. Its a lot of retexturing to be done and new models to create.

I think - i understand this grandeur, but looking on that from the point of 3Dmodeller and texture maker, i think that this is miserable work, IMHO.
Sorry, for alittle critique :).

Dont have to apologize, I dont mind. Its the equivalent to walking passed a barber and commenting after he clips only one side fo a guys head, of course it isnt brilliant looking. The updates and screenshots are to show progression, not give a definate atmospheric sense.

*Last avoid, heh*

I mean, he should make more work on it, and show it to us, heh.
But texture is good. Looking like Connary-s :).

Well I wouldnt go that far lol. Connarys great and Im just a guy with a trial version of photoshop

Personally, textures are rare as models, models making is not hard, hard to make good texture for model.
Low-rez textures, dont show us all beauti of atmosphere.

Also: try to test 64-64 rez texture, and 1024-1024 rez.

I dont mean to come off rude, but I dont quite understand what you mean.
