I never play one, but I love Argonians as a part of the series. I think they're the most unique race in the Elder Scrolls series. However, we first need to distinguish male argonians from female argonians.
Male argonians should have more squarish heads, primal eyes, and some teeth protruding out depending on how old the argonian is. Furthermore, Argonians should be able to have hairstyles and beards...but not the type of beards and hairstyles we know of. Like many others on this forum have said, male argonians NEED to have beards similar to that of the bearded dragon, if the player wants to add it.
For beards, think of something like this. Players can decide whether they want a short goatee beard, or a large one.

I could just imagine an old Argonian with a big spikey beard and wrinkled skin in an Oriental-like robe on. I've always seen the Argonians as a mix of South American and Asian cultures (Kajiit's are more Arabian).
