Argonian disappointed with NPC Argonians

Post » Sun Dec 11, 2011 1:58 pm

It seems that game is coded in such a way that NPCs assume you're everything but Argonian. The only person who warmly welcomed me so far is that Khajiit in Drunken Huntsman. Fellow Argonians, as rare as they are in Skyrim, have so far been utter disappointment.

First Argonian I ran into says he doesn't talk to strangers. I'm a stranger too, alright, but still, I'm Argonian.
Second Argonian in Solitude wants me to engage in criminal activities.
Third Argonian (Solitude docks) treats me coldly too and tells me to go to my egg-friends or something. Hello? I'm Argonian.
Fourth Argonian I ran into is a drug addict.
Fifth Argonian is an ugly goat that I didn't even like having as a follower. Maybe I'll find a work around by putting a bag over his head if I decide to use followers again.

So aside of that single Khajiit, and Helgen scene in the beginning, there's nothing else that is scripted for Argonians. At least not so far. And it kinda breaks immersion.

Yeah, that kind of svcks. That's why I go Nord. I hear many NPCs calling me "kinsman" or "son of skyrim" or "follow Nord".
It's cool.

Haha, almost the same for me. I'm like "Dude, I got you 3 flawless amethysts worth about 200 each for your wedding ring, then I threatened 150 from her. Why do you hate me?"

You've been away from the Hist too long, they consider you to be "Argonian on the outside, Imperial on the inside".

Should obviously tell you the Argonian's are disenfranchised and their social behavior has changed to demonstrate this. Not to mention having being walking and talking lizards, has to have an impact on a species psyche sooner or later....I mean how many cracks can they take with out it effecting their self-esteem. We will not talk about how you view yourself now that you've been exposed to this condition.

On a positive note I've seen few good looking Argonian women. ;) Didn't run into Shahvee yet.

Nah, I've been freshly sent from Black Marsh to assist Imperial forces by assassinating Stormcloak supporters in towns, mainly. Finding out who supports filthy rebels, and then eliminating them. I pay close attention to the dialogue. That veteran in Solitude sent me on a quest, but I remember what he said right after execution. He's going down. Unless he's essential NPC.

That being said, I know those Argonians have been in Skyrim for a while, but RP-wise you really have to stretch your imagination a lot to come with a reason why they would treat you coldly the first time they meet you. It's not isolated case.

I've run into many Argonians who respect my Argonian. O_O At least a little. I think some players have missed the whole Argonian society living in Windhelm docks... Do their quest and don't be a Stormcloak and they're your family! ^_^

Also, I got the three flawless amethysts to the Riften bartender just because he's a fellow Argonian. My assassin/thief couldn't care less about little people's little problems, unless they happen to be Argonians. But I had already made his bar pay some thieves' guild taxes, so even after getting the gems, I'm still not welcome there. :(

Generally speaking, though, I have heard many "brothers", "marsh-brothers" and I think "hist-brothers" from the few fellow Argonians Hides-Swift-Strikes has met so far!

I ran into an Argonian who needed my help. I was like "oh cool!" In the end, it turned out he was evil and wanted to kill me.

It's impossible to find nice argonians in the wilderness. They are only in Windhelm and Riften.

I didn't think lizards would like the cool climate in Skyrim. That may be why there are so few of them. :lightbulb:

No offense to Argonians but that seems right. Besides, Argonians are hatched, so it would make sense for another one to say egg-friends.

This game svckS with race dialogue period. I just got lectured on Morrowind by a fellow Dark Elf who claims I've never been there! WTF! Nearly ruined my immersion.
