Argonian & Elvish Shout Audio Oddities

Post » Sat Dec 17, 2011 3:13 am

In looking through some video for the recorded shout audio, I've come across a rather interesting oddity. Male Argonians use the generic Human Shout Audio, and Female Elves use the generic Human Shout Audio. However Male Elves & Female Argonians both have their own, unique Shouts. I've made a breakdown of the audio used in the Unrelenting Force Shout: "Fus Roh Dah." There're links to the audio clips (uploaded on YouTube).

? Argonian (0:16-0:24)
? Orc (1:26-1:33)
? Khajiit (1:13-1:22)

What's most interesting about this is that the Orc & Khajiit have unique audio in both male & female forms. I find it odd that the Elves and Argonians don't get the same level of treatment. The Argonians arguably have the most non-human sounding voices of the available races due to the raspyness that's ever-present when they speak, so it's especially awkward hearing them sound so human-like.

I was just wondering if anyone else had noticed this while playing through Skyrim, and if there were any thoughts about apparently shortchanging the female Elves and male Argonians on unique Shout audio. (Since so far as I've been able to find, there aren't any audio files for them, so this issue isn't even technically a bug that can be fixed).
