This sounds really cool. If you need a tester to help with testing the armor then just PM me.

Got it :D !

My chores took a bit longer (had to bale out extra straw to all of the
animals so that they will be nice and toasty in the barn and their pens
tonight). I'll get to this lickity-split (but it might take 'til tomorrow, as the
extra work tonight took out a larger chunk of my routine than anticipated).
I'll try a couple of different designs (from the more rounded aboriginal style
to a more angular "tribal" style; or I might just combine both). Right now, I
need to make dinner for the fam' and then dole it out to their various locations :) .

Take Care

He he, sounds like fun! We used to have all kinds of animals years ago, goats, sheep, pigs, geese, horses and such :P. Now we just have dogs :D
And im sure whatever you come up with with look excellent, i look forward to seeing how it turns out. Ive got plenty to work on in the meantime so its all good

Ha, yes indeed i have. And im trying to minimise them a little, ive abandoned the warhammer shizz cos it was a bit pointless to be honest. At the minute im just stickin to the two projects :)

That's cool, cheers redeye. Westly is cooking up some images for the shield so he will more than likely find them pretty useful :)

Wow, this looks like it should be gorgeous. I don't play as an Argonian myself, but it would be great to see this on a few NPCs.

Maybe it's just me, but I have always thought of Argonians to be decendants of dragons (without the wings). Just an opinion..

You really have a thing for dragons, don't you :P

I wonder if anyone has made retextured Aragonians, who looks even more like dragons than the vanilla Aragonians? (just a thought).

yes. well not so much a retexture but an entirely new race. http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=556. Also alternate colours: http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=2820. And finally better tails: http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=8013

To SGMonkey: Great idea, grea project, great concept, great work. Argonians are my favorite vannilla race. The only problem i had with them is that there was not alot to do with them and there wasnt alot of mods either. The fact they cant wear boots or helms was also a shame. Then the firstguard armor came along and i was happy for a while. But since then nothing else has been done *sniff*

just to say - you've made my day :)

love the shield and bracer btw

Right, i have arisen!

Today im gonna get the finishing touches made to the shield and start work on the cuirass.

The only thing is, im not sure how to work on the body of the cuirass, because the chest stays visible, but it will need to be made into the armor itself. Else obviously i'll just end up with floating straps and no body :P

So im gonna steal the chest piece from the "b_n_argonian_m_skins" nif file, get that positioned exactly and then start building up the straps and buckles and metal rings and such (you'll see  ) If anyone knows an easier or better way of doing this then let me know :)

And Midget, thankyou for the encouraging words. And just let me tell you, you've given me a cool idea for some argonian based quests. AND i think you should keep an eye out on my amanita mod

Everything looks great :) I think you should create two versions of the armor: One that has a wooden appearance, which would make it light Armor, and a stronger, rarer version made of metal (Like in the screen-shots) which would be either medium or heavy.
Just a suggestion ;)
EDIT: Forgot to mention, this probably won't be compatible with BB (Or any BB beast replacer), will it?

hmm yes i see a potential problem with the chest. Though if you could make the "armor" texture seprate from the "chest" section and use the morrowind argonian textures ( keeping the filenames) for the chest/skin area that would be great! because you see the skin texture would then change with any texture repalcers people might be using. make sense?

Perhaps check how the armor in Slof's Goth Shop II was set up?

If you want to build a chestpiece with better topology than extracting from the original body mesh do this: Take the bodymesh, join all parts, so you just have one complete mesh, remove all double verts, subdivide mesh several times to get a high polycount and then start with a single vert and retoplogize the chest peace after your own imagination. There must be something like a "snap to" function in max too, meaning the verts you extrude along the body mesh automatically snap to the closest vert of the mesh. Therefore high polycount is required.

This method doesn't take you much longer than tweaking the bad topology of the vanilla mesh!!! ;)

Other method is "shrinkwrap", don't know if there's something similar in max. You build a shape, that comes close to the original mesh and then a modifier makes it shrink to the target shape like a second skin. Many armor makers I know use this technique.

Right, i think i will have to look into it a bit more.

@ Krovosos. Is there a BB beast race? I was already thinking if there was one i would make two versions of the armor, for vanilla and BB. And i already had plans to make a male and female cuirass

@ Midget. I was already making the texture's separate. No need to worry about that, if anyone makes texture replacers for the argonian race it will still replace everything as before. :)

@ Karpik777. I will do now :)

@ DayWalker. Im not sure about everything you mention, a bit awkward cross platform :( But i will have a look into it. In max there is a mesh smooth modifier which effectively doubles the verts (not sure if thats what you mean or not) But im planning on keeping the vanilla body. And if there is a BB beast mod i will make a version for that too :)

Back shortly all, gonna walk me rotties

There are several, as a matter of fact: The one I use (And is my personal favorite) is New Beast Bodies by Liztail, though I believe that there was one made by Slof, and another one made by Sabregirl (I think, correct me if I'm wrong).
Here, this is Liztail's body:

Good luck! :)

I'm pretty sure that was Sabregirl you're thinking of.

There's also http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=6567.

I don't suppose you have any links to slofs goth shop 2? I can't seem to locate it

EDIT: I may just make my own better argonian body

Looks okay so far, but if it's going to be a replacer for the bodies themselves then I don't think I'll use it. Sorry.

Well i am making the set of armor for vanilla regardless. But i would like to also make a variation of the armor for a higher quality body.

And i think if i do make a BB version, i will more than likely make it myself. Not because others look bad, i just like to work on my own models

I see. Understandable really :)
By Argonian Only, will this mean that ONLY Argonians can wear this, with NO exceptions? I can understand due to the shape of the Argonian's bodies, and that this is technically the purpose of the armor, but Khajiit are similar enough body-wise so that they could realistically wear some pieces as well.
I'm not complaining however, as I lurv Argonains :D

No, purely argonians. I hate cats! :P

Although, if when I finish the vanilla argonian body armor there is demand for a Khajiit variation then i may do so

It's on PES - search for Goth Shop. (I'd rather not give any direct links, as it is a +18 mod)

From what I can tell you made the claws smooth with the rest of the mesh and from the looks of it made the hands larger. You also made an innuendo to Han Solo.
