Argonian Players Improvement Ideas?

Post » Mon Nov 08, 2010 9:26 am

I ALWAYS play as an Argonian. They have been my favorite race since Morrowind first came out. I really think that Bethesda needs to work on how they appear though. Theyre supposed to be lizardmen. Not humans that are painted red and have a tail and sharp teeth. Also I think their tail needs to be animate. None of the staying in one spot for the ENTIRE game. If youve ever played aliens vs predator, the aliens tail moves according to how you move( if you turn really quickly, you can see your tail before it swings behind you.
Armor is also something i would like to see improved. maybe unique greaves and boots speciffically for the beastmen to accomodate tails and clawed feet?
These are just some thoughts, feel free to add on

I agree with what you said I always saw that armor usually squeezed argonians inside of them especially helmets, and the their bodies really do need to change, make them less humanoid and more reptilian
and the animations to be unique for their different anatomy

I am a fan of the MW style of Argonians. However, for armor and stuff there should just be the one sort of armor I.E Leather Curiass, Leather Greaves, and then have them mold to fit the modle.

Sort of like how there is one set of armor and it adjusts if you are a female character.

So an Imperial might be wearing Leather Greaves and they mold to fit his human frame, and an Argonian wears the same leather greaves and they mold to fit HIS frame. This is the way to go Beth ^_^

I would like them to bring back the swimming animation they had in MW it was so elegant and really gave the feeling that they are natural born swimmers.

Yes specific anims for beast races is always a good idea.
I understand why they changed them in Oblivion, and that both the Khajiit and Argonion looking the same in body was silly in Morrowind.
They're using a new engine now, we've yet to see the beast races I think or how armour and outfits change on players.
If they are seperate items for both male and female PC's, or just the same item with two meshes tied to them.

Sorry going off topic, but if there is more freedom in how the outfits are worn and equiped with this engine over Oblivions.
Having armours look completely different on every race, especially Argonians could be in.

That and if you look at pictures of monsters like werewolves, we may see what movements the beast races are capable of.

i loved the argonians in MW, hopefully theyll mak them more beastly lookin.

slightly off topic: with argonians able to breath water, i always thought it would be cool if they had underwater carvens to explore or even a city of argonians underneath the surface with only water to get there. i jus would lik to see more use out of the water breathin ability since it was useless in oblivion except for the place with the big slaughter fish.

They should make a new racial power for Argonians called venomous bite where you can kill your enemies in a single snap! lizard men should have better powers than breathing underwater. lizards cant breath underwater.

as long as they have better animations than in morrowind, they looked like joke characters, if they can't do good animations i would rather them be more humanoid.

I like the idea of the different armors being form fitting for different races. But that would include having different body types for each race. Nords should be broad and muscular, Redguards an athletic slender and strong build, Imperials average with some tone, wood elves short slender and agile so on and so forth. The armor should be designed to fit each race AND their play style. Even though it is classified as light and heavy armor it should be handled on an individual basis and designed to look beneficial to each race.

I could not play a Khajiit in Morrowind, I got seasick watching myself walk in third person.

problem with having armor fit different body types is that you will need a new mesh. The best we can hope for realistic is that Khajiit and Argonian has beast like legs and naturally different heads.

The argonian animations in Oblivion were pretty bad. Their heads had a weird shape, their skin color looked unnatural, and their bodies were too human. I usually played an Argonian in Morrowind, but almost never in Oblivion. Also, the voice for the female Argonians was reeeally grating. Why not have the females sound as badass as the males?

I'm just hoping for better animations. Both beast races need their tails to be animated and have separate walking animations to distinguish between them. Not chicken legs like MW please.

Also CLAWS are a must

CLAWS!!!!! instead of hand to hand punching, they should claw and scratch and such. with visible claw marks across the enemy's face after a sucessful blow

There's a screeny around of a concept design of an argonian floating around somewhere. Needless to say, they have the general body structure of OB's, but look very lizard-like (not lizard suit people). If I were to give a description, I'd say take a look at EQ2's iksar race, with skin that looks more plated than scaled, dark green scales, and a different-ish head.

Also, would it be too much to ask to have argonians have the ability to inflict diseases or poison damage as a form of a race-only power? They are known for living in the most inhospitable area of Tamriel, as it is filled to the brim with nasty flus, diseases, and poisons. Makes some sense that the scratch and bite of an argonian would be almost like being bitten by a komodo dragon

If there was an option to reduce the size (or completely remove) their tails and if they were less colorfull,I'd actually play Argonians.

Concept makes it look as though their tails got even thicker, and closer to MW's size. But, they look more reptilian and single colored.

Ugh, I'll look around the threads to find you the [NUMMIT] concept picture. Believe it came from a video that someone screenshotted.

EDIT: http://i801.photobucket.com/albums/yy297/b_harrison/misc/artofskyrim_010_argoniandragon.jpg It's the picture to the far left.

I really like the female Argonian voice in Oblivion. It actually matched the style of the male's voice, unlike a certain elf race that hails from Morrowind.
