an argonian without a spear is like a high elf without magic

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 10:06 am

I just can't separate them. I don't really see the role or lore of an argonian without a spear. The same goes for Hircine.

Spears are more than another weapon type, they are an integral part of the TES world in my opinion. You may be thinking "great, another spear thread"; but I don't think we should ever stop asking for them. I don't think any established aspect should be removed for the sake of improving others. Taking away variety, depth, and lore... that's not what TES is about.

Who's with me?

An argonian without a spear is like a Elder Scrolls Skyrim thread without talk about spears.

I respectively disagree. You're just pulling hairs here. Spears are not a "required part of gameplay and lore". That's just a silly insinuation in regards of something you want in the game.

One solution is to make Argonian non playable like goblins, it would make it easier to add the spear animation and everybody would be happy :)

The only way I'd want to see spears is if they implemented a spear throwing mechanic. Switch instantly from sticking to javelinning.

"an argonian without a spear is like a high elf without magic"

And a High Elf without magic is...a really tall Wood Elf with a funky skin tone? :P

yes, they did. But it was more about the "dumbing down" of the game. A common criticism is that eventually there won't be any variety. They've pretty much succeeded in removing variety from weapons, especially ranged ones. Stealthy classes look to be nearly obsolete. Birthsigns are likely gone too.

This isn't really all about spears. Birthsigns are also very much an established part of lore... to me it seems heretical to cut them. But what do I know, I'm just a TES fan.

I see why you would think that. But my argument here doesn't apply to thrown weapons, crossbows, fast travel alternatives, pauldrons, no quest compass, etc.. It does however apply to spears, levitation, birthsigns, and the school of mysticism.

For the record, I didn't really use spears all that much. I used crossbows a lot, and I'm disappointed they're not in, because I like the variety. But spears ARE a part of TES lore, and for that reason they should be in.

Well, "Nack", I seem to remember him also saying "at the moment". We've still got 9 months to express our opinions in favor of spears. So if you don't like spears, simply don't use them. You don't have to shoot down other people's wants for the game just because you personally don't want the same thing. Because that's what jerks do. And I'm sure you're not a jerk, so you should avoid that path.

So, what, you're calling me a troll because I'm vocal about what I believe would make Skyrim better? You know what, this isn't even worth fighting about. Things like this are why I've been avoiding the Skyrim section. It always seems like somebody has to diss spears, and I always have to jump to spears' defenses. Oh well, now I'll just mosey on back to the Fan Fiction area of the forums. Less arguing over there.

I'm sorry but no, Spears are not a part of TES lore. What part of TES lore has Spears as an integrated aspect? That doesn't even make sense.

Hircine is pretty much always shown with a spear. The Spear of Bitter Mercy played an important role in Battlespire.
