I've said it before, it's not Morrowind legs, but it sure doesn't look like human feet to me.

Looks like it's wearing some sort of shin armour to me that just exaggerates the size of it's calf area. I used to get complained at cos it looked like i couldn't straighten my leg but i just had large calves. We'll just have to see.
Ps. I think it looks great.

Lol I've got a friend like that we call him Legs Bruno, lol
Better beast races fir the win I think the slightly jointed lower leg works well allow normal leg armour but keeping it individual, would love custom beast armour but it unlikely.

I really don't see why everyone thinks it should go back to the Morrowind style. Just because they are a beast race doesn't mean they are supposed to be actual beasts. They are HUMANOIDS, not animals. The more human look with the beast features is how Bethesda wants them to look and I like it better as well. They said they will be more distinct from the other races but it doesn't mean they have to go back to beast form.

Those feet are too short to be human-like feet.

That looks actually neat. Beast-race legs which can support shoes. Hope it's like that in the game, I can thoroughly live with that.

They remind me of raptor feet silhouettes, with the dew-claw against the ground.

I've never played as an argonian but that concept art is intriguing I love it! I'll be playing as my first argonian if they look like that in game.

I'm actually okay if the Argonians don't have Morrowind legs, as long as they don't have human feet. Morrowind argonians didn't really have reptile legs. Real reptile feet look like http://www.mongabay.com/images/indonesia/zoo/z8783.JPG, notice how the joints are similar to human joints, but it's the foot itself that the difference.

Khajiits though, I hope they have http://www.wetterlands.com/root/bengals/sabu1.jpg, with cat joints.

Beast races were never originally meant to be playable in Morrowind, IE: The ONLY game with those types of leg joints. They were going to be slaves you could free, effectively. We all just made such a stink about it that they eventually decided to add them in, but with an inability to wear boots and helms due to the way the legs were already designed.

In all the games where beasts were meant to be playable from the beginning, the legs were decidedly human. That includes Oblivion and Skyrim.

It's hard to tell on such a picture especially since it's concept art. However it does look like the legs are more like Quarian's from Mass Effect. Which isn't a bad thing.

I do think we're going to see a beast style this time though since they got the Havok system for animation which is capable of porting animations from one model to another despite a large difference in skeletal structure. So they don't really need any extra development time to do it.

I remember reading something about this in the past and someone explained at length why twisted feline-like legs would actually be very much a detriment to a bipedal creature because they aren't made for walking on with two legs. It's like walking on your tip toes which is bad enough in high heels and is probably much worse without them. Cats are essentially walking on their tip toes with their hind legs. It isn't a backwards knee part way up the leg but instead it's their heel.

Here's a picture showing it. They do not have backwards knees. That is their heel, and that leg structure isn't suited to walking on only two legs.

I like it! The tail especially is way better, and it's not a Morrowind level of bestiality beastiness which IMO was too much.

Upon further inspection, I dont like the Morrowind beasts lol. Those legs are like... just... exaggerated? And that walking animation... :cryvaultboy: Its like they crapped themselves. I love that argonian picture tho, i really hope that makes it into the final game.

I would say BGS are damned if they do and damned if they don't

If they do make them more like Morrowind Argonians with beast legs, there'll still be people crying foul about how it puts their race at a disadvantage against other races.

Personally, I prefer the humanoid Argonians.

That would only happen if they actually suffered a disadvantage compared to other races. The main problem with them in Morrowind was that they couldn't wear boots and full helms, and modders were able to create special boots they could wear, there's no reason Bethesda can't do that as well, and the helmet issue was rendered irrelevant in Oblivion by letting them wear the few full helmets the game had, even though the heads were pretty close to Morrowind, with it being the feet that changed in the game. Of course, I'm sure some people would still complain about the design, and that's fine, no matter what Bethesda does, there's probably going to be someone, somewhere, who feels they should have done differently, and you certainly don't need to approve of Bethesda's first choice. I just wanted to put out that if one's complaints with Morrowind's approach is about the boots and helmets, there's a way to fix it, without going down Oblivion's humans in animal costumes approach.

The problem here is that the animations for them in Morrowind weren't very well done, really, none of the character animations were good in Morrowind, but for some players, the Argonian and Khajiit animations seemed to stand out, perhaps because them being distinctly different from normal human movement called attention to them. The animations used by other races were stiff, but were less memorable in their badness.

Though actually, looking at the picture, I get the impression of a figure somewhere in between Morrowind and Oblivion in terms of the humanness of Argonians, the Argonian strikes me as a little more animal-like than Oblivion's Argonians, but still more human-looking than Morrowind's, and it does look like they would be able to wear boots from the image, so hopefully, this means that, while their posture will still be human like, they're models won't just be retextured human models with different heads and tails attached. But of course, since this is only concept art the actual game might be different, and that's a little worrysome since usually, the way one expects it to go is that the concept art shows something really interesting, but it gets toned down a bit in the game because designing it like the concept art shows is too difficult, that's how I'd usually expect it to go, still, it's only concept art, I won't make a final judgment on the matter until I actually see how they look in the game.

Granted, I could live with how they were in Oblivion, they were certainly better than those hideous abominations in Arena. But I'd still prefer giving them a unique animation, at the very least, though, they need to have claws. It's specifically noted in the description of Khajiit that many of them forego weapons in favor of their own claws, you can't make a race known to do that and then not give them claws at all, and expect no one to mind.

I know how real cat legs are structured, and you know what? I don't care if such a structure would be practical for a bipedal lifeform or not. I don't want a realistic simulation of what cat men or lizard men might look like in real life, if they actually existed in real life. What I want is a fantasy race that is interesting and is distinct from the other races in the setting, and I happen to feel that Morrowind's approach to Khajiit and Argonians is better for that. I hardly think that giving a fictional race a leg structure that would be impractical, in real life, is too unrealistic for a game where I can play a dual wielding lizard man who kills dragons by shouting at them.

but i never play as a beast race so i dont really care how the leg turn out.

That logic makes absolutely no sense, whether you play as them or not, you're still going to be looking at them, so you should still be concerned with whether they look like. By this seem logic, I could see I don't care if Bethesda turns Bosmer into pink polka-dotted elephants, because I never play as them.

Same with Argonians too, Im reading The Infernal City and the Breton girl, Annaig, at least once comments on how her Argonian friend, Mere-Glim could easily mess some people up using only his claws.

The legs look like this to me.

http://paleo.cc/paluxy/tsitefig1a.gif

Dinosaur-esque, which makes sense as they were the only reptiles to have legs that wentr down rather than out. The boots appear to go up to a little below the line in that image that says Fibula.

Every fantasy game has some semblance of reality and gravity is one of them. It is just impractical for them to have the legs from Morrowind. Besides, I thought they looked ridiculous in Morrowind. I don't see how having deformed legs make them any less different than the other races. They already said they made every race distinct from each other. Just because humanoid lizards are actually humanoid instead of mutant reptiles, doesn't mean they are any less distinct.

Yeah that's my line of thought too. I may have posted the real reason why those Morrowind legs don't make sense anatomically, but in reality I just plain don't like the way they looked in Morrowind, and in fact I used a mod to change them. I can understand someone wanting it to look a certain way just because it looks more interesting to them though. They can't please everyone.

I'll be disappointed if the Khajiit legs are like in Morrowind, but I'll get over it soon enough if they are. One thing I noticed is that usually there is a slight favor leaning towards Morrowind-style legs when talking about the Argonians and the Khajiit, yet that concept must have some kind of balance because the response seems largely positive. Granted a couple dozen people posting they love the Argonian concept art isn't exactly reliable poll data.

Am I the only one who sees that blurred piece of artwork and sees an argonian that looks EXACTLY like they did in Oblivion? Lizard face and tail, but otherwise perfectly human-like anatomy. Look carefully at his legs; they are likes those of an human.

Oh darn it, that's gonna be my first great disappointment with Skyrim.... argonians that still look like humans with a reptile mask and a plastic tail.

The legs don't look human to me, if you think about it. You can see the boots bend forward and stick out a bit at the back, suggesting a curve further down and out of view. Read my post a few posts above to see a (slightly exaggerated as it's all I could find) view of what I mean. As for the tail, it looks to be longer and thicker here.
