Argonians - beast races anatomy

Post » Tue Nov 09, 2010 1:48 am

Hi!

Just thought I share this found with you. I was watching the artwork HUB video again when I saw this pic of an http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/SOI_BPOKzfP_oHHt-8Et8A?feat=directlink

I know artwork does not mean its cast in stone regarding the final characters, but I assume they went on with the Oblivion style of the beast races' anatomy. I'm kind of disappointed, I'd love to see an interesting makeover of the Morrowind beasts only more refined. I found the oblivion type 90% humanoid beast races kind of boring.

Shoot!

It does look like the legs are more human, but everyone should not fly off the handle because of a blurry piece of concept art. We have no idea how they'll look in-game.

I would say BGS are damned if they do and damned if they don't

If they do make them more like Morrowind Argonians with beast legs, there'll still be people crying foul about how it puts their race at a disadvantage against other races.

Personally, I prefer the humanoid Argonians.

This is definitely the kind of thing that isn't set in stone. It may still not be decided.

They look awesome now! :D

I'm gonna slink back into the shadows before I get yelled at for not disapproving that their legs aren't backwards unlike http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/ff/KomodoDragonRinca1.jpg.

They look like they at least have their claws back, and the reversed curve of the tail ismore natural (the outward-sticking tails in Oblivion made zero sense for a bipedal creature).

I may be reading too much into it, but they also seem to have rear toes on the back of their feet.

I'm not only talking about the legs. Wouldn't it be interesting to see them with different skeletons and figures (is this the word for it?) than normal humans attached with a tail and an animal head? In oblivion they look like costumes :D

I like the new look and I'm not disappointed in the slightest. It really looks more beastly than argonians did in Oblivion and Morrowind, even without the alien legs.

That'd be rather stupid, how is having bent legs in any way a disadvantage? In fact, it provides better balance at greater speed, so it's a benefit if anything.

Looking really closely it appears the Argonian may have some sort of armor on his/her shins but it stops at the feet

The new look looks great! Reminds me of why I fell in love with the Iksar in EQ. I just may change my main from nord to argonian if they turn out just like that.

Either he's wearing very baggy trousers, or I'm seeing an additional leg joint. To me, that says they've found a compromise. A slight backward curve on the legs to represent a second joint, but not to the extent that regular footwear can't be used. But yeah, that doesn't look like the sort of shot that would be used to concept an entire race. It'd be a full profile shot placing far more emphasis on the figure itself, I guess. We'll have to wait and see I suppose.

Because it disallowed boots. Greater speed will only pay off a little at early levels, but after awhile most characters are more than competent runners.

This could be easily fixed by simply providing some Beast armor options in the game.

I like the look on that concept art. At least the fear that they do not have a human head with scale painted on the face is off my mind.

We'll see if speed is still there as an attribute... /grin/

I was just about to post about that. They don't look as extreme as in morrowind, but it dosen't look like ordinary human legs

I think those are calves.

But they could be more joints.
