Argonians in Skyrim

Post » Mon Dec 13, 2010 3:24 pm

I expect them to look close to the Skyrim concept art.

I trust Bethesda to make them look decent. I was also wondering, if you can add scars to your character would you be able to scar an argonians tail? i think it would make a character look epic.

I would like a combination of oblivion and morrowind looking Argonians... mostly morrowind with regular jointed legs...

After seeing this: http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2011/027/5/5/skyrim__s_argonian_drawing_by_xxxbanditxxx-d383uyh.png ... it kind of reminded me of a Bearded Dragon lizard: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://static.freewebphoto.com/wild-animals/free-photo/AAAAAA-ADFMA3-QLGCH8-AFNLC6-EQ9JAD-N8QD27-44H2MA/bearded-dragon.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.freewebphoto.com/photos/1007/25/bearded-dragon.html&usg=__TDAPzpRSsYjlRJ2__Og_NiPYczc=&h=317&w=468&sz=52&hl=en&start=20&sig2=N7fuWpHY_Mamu7YexdZbkA&zoom=1&tbnid=jyvVn7h5L93MEM:&tbnh=165&tbnw=228&ei=RHnUTeD2IY3ysgaO2_3lAg&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dbearded%2Bdragon%2Blizard%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26rlz%3D1G1GGLQ_ENUS333%26biw%3D1280%26bih%3D857%26tbm%3Disch0%2C798&um=1&itbs=1&iact=rc&dur=381&sqi=2&page=2&ndsp=20&ved=1t:429,r:15,s:20&tx=109&ty=69&biw=1280&bih=857

Just, you know, longer/less spikes and more of a lower jaw. :) I think that would be quite awesome.

Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes.

I honestly think that concept art looks PERFECT.

More rarely encountered. Records say that, as would be expected, they are not keen on nor comfortable in cold Northern Winters.

What do you guys think about this? http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/MM35_gallery/MM35_PG169.jpg

I saw it, and at first went "Awesome!" but then started to think it wasn't as great. What about you guys?

That's awesome! It's the perfect balance between the animalistic Morrowind Argonians and the too humanoid Oblivion ones.

If they are cold blooded (has this ever been stated?), I'd imagine they would be a bit more than uncomfortable.

The lore suggests they are cold blooded, saying that they fared poorly in the cold northern winters of Skyrim.

The legs are a little thick but this actually looks really good.

My first character being Argonian, I really hope they don't take the easy way out and apply a lizard texture to a human model. Make them beastly!

Considering that the Argonians conquered Morrowind sometime after Oblivion, I'd say there will be several Argonians in the eastern half of Skyrim. Not to mention that the eruption of Red Mountain (which destroyed Vvardenfell, btw) may have changed the climate of eastern Skyrim. Both the invasion and eruption were mentioned in the novel The Infernal City (which takes place 40 years after Oblivion). Did nobody read it? http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Books:The_Infernal_City

I really liked the Oblivion Argonians... but considering thier abilities (water breathing guys...) they need to decide... froglike, or crocodile/alligator like!? In Oblivion, it was like they were caught between a lizard and a green tree frog. I want something humanoid, but more to the face of a gator or a dragon-like build

Agreed

Jut remove them this time. They don't belong in Skyrim's cold climate, the lizard fans should just be made to wait until the next game.

I loved the ones in Morrowind. I loved the ones in Oblivion. I can't wait to see the new ones with thicker tails (hopefully tail animations) and bulky, like the new khajiit. My first character is argonian warrior.

Out of all their iterations in the series, I'm most fond of their overall physique in Daggerfall, but I'm hoping that their heads will be colorful and exotic like Morrowind's. None of Oblivion's deformed dinosaurs.
If we're going to use previous iterations, this is golden. Personally, I prefer a combination of re123's link on the first page and http://images.wikia.com/eq2/images/3/33/Iksar_%28Character_Race%29_Male.jpg from EQ.

argonians in skyrim should be frozen popsicles. if any do survive they should have to be huddled around fires at the local inn.

I hope we have a choice between the two. I would prefer beastly. But really, anything would be better than what we had in Oblivion.

yeah this is a good idea.

I have to admit I don't understand why people would want them "more intimidating." As a race of people obviously some would be intimidating, but why should they all look like that?

I really like http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2011/027/5/5/skyrim__s_argonian_drawing_by_xxxbanditxxx-d383uyh.png. I'm hoping for something like that: a happy medium between the craziness of the Morrowind designs and the more humanoid Oblivion design.

Jut remove them this time. They don't belong in Skyrim's cold climate, the lizard fans should just be made to wait until the next game.

They aren't wild animals they are people, and as such they could learn to cope. Can humans naturally live in as cold climates as they do in the real world? Nope! You have to remember Skyrim is NOT cold all year round either, except in its more mountainous areas. There's a whole continent to the North in fact. It's more like Britain or Southern Canada, I think. Obviously that's not certain since this is Nirn and not Earth.

Argonians and Khajit should not have underwear and no "non-mammal" mammaries like in Morrowind. The picture I posted is ideal to me. It is more beastly than Oblivion, but still more humanoid than Morrowind.

Why the heck shouldn't they have underwear?? They are people not wild animals. There's a M`aiq quote just waiting to be born out of this one, no offense. The female Argonians have always had briast-like structures so I can't imagine that will suddenly change. If I recall Bethesda actually explained that one but I don't remember the exact quote. I know the Argonians were confirmed to be http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ovoviviparity.

I would like them to look something like this: http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2011/102/f/2/black_marsh_v1_by_redmorpho-d3du879.png

This would be perfect. I love the barbarism feel.they would fit perfect with the skyrim feel.

This would be perfect, except the scales on the head look too much like armor, like some depictions of dragon heads. I'd prefer it if they were more saurian than draconic.

I like the look, actually of draconic over saurian.
I say this because of the climate of Skyrim would fit a draconic style argonian, than a dinosaur or a snake/lizard
