Argonians in Skyrim

I think Argonians will look pretty good, judging by the screenshots we've seen of other races. I might make a secondary orc character even..

I have to admit I don't understand why people would want them "more intimidating." As a race of people obviously some would be intimidating, but why should they all look like that?

I really like http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2011/027/5/5/skyrim__s_argonian_drawing_by_xxxbanditxxx-d383uyh.png. I'm hoping for something like that: a happy medium between the craziness of the Morrowind designs and the more humanoid Oblivion design.

They aren't wild animals they are people, and as such they could learn to cope. Can humans naturally live in as cold climates as they do in the real world? Nope! You have to remember Skyrim is NOT cold all year round either, except in its more mountainous areas. There's a whole continent to the North in fact. It's more like Britain or Southern Canada, I think. Obviously that's not certain since this is Nirn and not Earth.

Why the heck shouldn't they have underwear?? They are people not wild animals. There's a M`aiq quote just waiting to be born out of this one, no offense. The female Argonians have always had briast-like structures so I can't imagine that will suddenly change. If I recall Bethesda actually explained that one but I don't remember the exact quote. I know the Argonians were confirmed to be http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ovoviviparity.

You sir win get a cookie too!
I agree, Argonians are people.

Just a personal ideal, I guess. Cultural differences and all. In my mind, I believe they, as a people do not exactly hold themselves to the typical, possibly ridiculous standards of "decency" other races believe in. They of course would understand other race's perceptions of such things, but I believe it would only be upheld out of necessity or courtesy, nothing more. Besides, as far as Argonians are concerned, there shouldn't exactly be anything to visibly see...a benefit of being reptilian.

The Argonians are confirmed to be ovoviviparous, meaning they have internal fertilization and the mothers do not lay an egg until the baby is ready to hatch. I'm not sure if the lore confirms external "features" but a quick Google search reveals that it's not out of the question. I did not search for pictures nor do I plan to, however.

Jut remove them this time. They don't belong in Skyrim's cold climate, the lizard fans should just be made to wait until the next game.

NO remove the dunmer they should be argonian slaves after the argonians took over morrowind. p.s dunmer svck (only the ones that enslave argonians)

Considering that the Argonians conquered Morrowind sometime after Oblivion, I'd say there will be several Argonians in the eastern half of Skyrim. Not to mention that the eruption of Red Mountain (which destroyed Vvardenfell, btw) may have changed the climate of eastern Skyrim. Both the invasion and eruption were mentioned in the novel The Infernal City (which takes place 40 years after Oblivion). Did nobody read it? http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Books:The_Infernal_City

If anything, after the first few years, the climate should have grown colder in that part of Skyrim, as massive volcanic explosions blot out sunlight and often eventually cause a Nuclear Winter type effect.

I would expect to see FAR more Dark Elves in the mountains between Skyrim and Morrowind than anything else.

So...Argonians don't hatch from giant eggs? I'm kind of disappointed now... If they don't come from an egg that the mother lays, why do they use the term "hatchling" I seem to remember the Argonian from the DB missions mentioning that they were hatched.

The egg gets laid just before the hatching.

Why do you always play that card in every topic about new race designs? No one said every single Argonian should look and act the same.

Some games have beast races with a permanent scowl. That is what I'm saying I don't want to see.

Debates about model quality aside, I think they did a good job with the facial expressions in Oblivion for the beast races, at least for the Khajiit I don't remember how the Argonian ones look.

The Dunmer are (were) the most bad-ass race in the game :P
Considering that I don't pay much attention to the lizard folk.... I wouldn't change the look too significantly. Maybe more reptilian-like.

I hope they don't do armor restriction for beast races.

I agree. I have said this before, but if armour can shape itself after every race/gender why should beast races be treated differently?

Then why are you here? Your post is as worthless as someone coming in here asking for Dunmer to be pink, in a thread about Fargoth.

There should be barely any living in Skyrim. Nords and Imperials should make up about 70% of the population.

I think with civil war, there are many good opportunities for mercenaries who dont ask questions. :poke: But yeah, I wouldnt expect them to live there for long periods, just long enough to make some cash.

Anyway, I want them to look cold...and miserable. I want them to wear sweaters that have a resistence to frost enchantment. I also think there should be some more hair (horn/ear) choices, and it would be cool if they could also get a beard of scales, like a bearded dragon (ha!, dragon...)

they should look like a mix of the morrowind and oblivion argonians but very tough looking. they would have to be tough to endure skyrims relatively cold climate. for instance thicker scales. but there shouldnt be alot of them it is skyrim after all and the ones that are there should mainly congregate near cities near the morrowind or cyrodillic border. but a few brave argonian souls should be found up north.

I agree. Skyrim, out of all the games in the Elder Scrolls series, has to deal with the most barbaric themes. It wouldn't make sense for a lot of NPCs (Argonian or not) to look anything like they did in Morrowind or Oblivion. A few are fine and should be expected because everyone loves variety but the majority definitely needs to appear more rugged and give off a sense of savagery in my opinion. Gentlemen and scholars included. ;)

You are all saying how you don't like oblivion argonians.
Personally I don't mind oblivion argonians but isn't anything better than arena argonians.
By the way I do like the picture of that one with the spear, I think that is a really awsome idea for an argonian.

They aren't going to look the same anyway. No race is. Why get hung up on that? The game was made five years ago, of course people are going to want different Argonians.
