I think they're therapsids.

I don't think it's impossible for argonians to live in cold weather. They just really prefer not too. There was only 1 argonian NPC in all of solsthiem and all he ever did was complain about the weather.

Well they don'tfit the jaw description in the characteristics section. Still, it's possible they're warm-blooded reptiles, or at least more adapted to cold than most.

Another possibility I thought of is that they could make Argonians weak to cold areas anyway, and make it damage their health/fatigue, but also make more grottos and deep lakes for swimming or make disease a bigger issue in order to give them a corresponding advantage.

They'll live in warm cellars with a fireplace and a large pile of wood. And where does it say that Argonians are cold-blooded?

Argonians like Khajiit have many variations and sub-races. What is to say we will see the same kind of Argonian? We just have to sit and wait and Bethesda will provide us with answers.

Would disease really be a bigger issue in a cold climate though? I think diseases like warmer areas for the most part, and not just because its warmer but because there is a larger population of humans in warmer climates. They'll probably just add lore about how a certain tribe of Argonians adapted to the cold climate, or maybe we just wont have argonians but to many people would get mad about that, however they do it I'm sure it will make at least some sense, they do have professionals for these things.

TES wiki says they are cold blooded

wiki* also says dis

"Both the terms "warm-blooded" and "cold-blooded" have fallen out of favour with scientists because of the vagueness of the terms and an increased understanding of the field. Body temperature types are not discrete categories. Each term may be replaced with one or more variants, see the next section for examples. Body temperature maintenance (thermoregulation) incorporates a wide range of different techniques that result in a body temperature continuum, with the traditional ideals of warm-blooded and cold-blooded being at opposite ends of the spectrum."

*Regular wiki...not TES wiki...so lorewise I'm not sure if that's a sound argument on my part

Very true! I would just hate to see a player be able to be a naked argonian and not have some sort of explanation backing it up

I have a soft spot for the scaly fellas, my first and longest played character was a big eared, horn nosed Argonian.

But you know, I really would not mind if they had a Health (or fatigue) loss due to the cold. I would want it for elves, and humans too, just less so on the Nords and Kahjiits. (Nords least so...while Kahjiit have fur, they are also jungle/desert cats)

theres already been a thread on this, of not more. in fact, one of them had a very good section of lore or a quote from a book about someone having argonian troops in an icy environment and how they went south when it was too cold. i would post a link, but its seems im not the only one who cant find the "search" bar

I think some kind of magic spell could easily take care of whatever problem the cold may cause.

This sure is getting a LOT of work today:

To take from another thread where I posted on the matter:

"Cephorus concentrated his army on the war in High Rock, while his brother Magnus, King of Lilmoth, brought his Argonian troops through loyal Morrowind and into Skyrim to fight in Potema's home province. The reptilian troops fought well in the summer months, but during the winter, they retired south to regroup and attack again when the weather was warm. At this stalemate, the War lasted out two more years." - The Wolf Queen, Book Seven

They may not have been able to do great during Winter, but they can survive.

Re: Do Argonians lay eggs? [Re: Vireyar]

Quote:
Or because an Argonian says that he didn't hatch yesterday ... *cough* Just a figure of speech, I suppose.
Which is why I said "Perhaps it is both, as necessity demands."

Never underestimate the adaptability of Argonians, or, more specifically, the power of the Hist to allow Argonians to adapt.

I wouldn't expect to hear an Argonian born in Skyrim (or on Solstheim, for that matter) mention being hatched. Nor would I expect to hear more transient Argonians (say, members of a small, nomadic tribe) speak about laying eggs. However, in warmer climates, in places with established, stable, and permanent communities, you would likely see a great number of eggs.

This means that not only can Argonians live in Skyrim, but can be born there.

"You get used to the cold. Got a good set of fur boots to keep my feet warm. Give a Nord a good thumping to keep the blood flowing, khah-khah-khah." -- Right-Wind -- Argonian in Bruma

It's pretty much agreed upon that Argonians are NOT fully cold-blooded. Neither are many animals on earth, most notably the great white shark
