Argonians will have human legs

Post » Fri Oct 01, 2010 5:11 pm

I see that aswell. I took a screen capture of i took a http://imgur.com/FIlje for your viewing pleasure. I think what he was referring to are the photos Just below the Dark Cityscape and just to the lower right of the Cityscape. On closer inspection I also think its just a type of armour, the head looks Argonian(oblivion style Argonian mind you) but there is no tail... We shall see, im really hoping for digitigrades legs.

***I would also prefer 'beast haunches' to human legs on khajiit.
~With alternate shin guards, but this makes for a minor problem (that I wouldn't mind); that being it would be impossible for a human PC/NPC to wear the lower half of a looted khajiit armor.

Nah, the leg armour would just magically morph to fit whatever race the player character is. Just like the body armour morphs to fit the player character whether they're male or female, thickset Orc or slight Bosmer.

On watching it a second time, I don't think it looks like an Argonian. But what I did find interesting was all the other stuff in that video; the pause menu, the map (did anyone notice the region "Volcanic Tundra?"), also got to take a look at some of the cities on the map (I could make out Riften, Winterhold and Soltitude) and all of the concept art. Tis looking fantastic :celebration:

Looks more like Daedric armor, a type of dragon-esque armor, or a Khajiit (in profile):

sounds good. also- marshes would be in the lowlands, where all the water from the hils and mountains go. it will still be a very cold marsh.

thats some cool looking daedric

Males and females (in the previous games) used the same skeleton, and sometime had alternate versions. I'm talking about the animal races having legs http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj125/Gizmojunk/Minotaur5.jpg or http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj125/Gizmojunk/minotaurbossarmored_2.jpg, and the armors not fitting human NPC's.

Not necessarily, the armor and clothing already transforms into male/femal variants, it wouldn't be that big of a deal to make it transform into different races version too.

Edit: So very ninja'd :D Well, that would seem reasonable to me. More reasonable than Morrowind where beast races didn't have a single shoemaker :D

That'd be neat.

*I never liked the idea that an armor could come off of a female (and possibly smaller), yet fit on a male (that was likely to be larger). I understand it from a gameplay stance, but I still never liked it. RPG's routinely have items only usable by specific classes, so its no great leap to have items only usable by genders (or specific race ~like Argonian helmets for instance). (Wrong race or gender? sell it.)

**Or perhaps just sell the helmet & pants? in the case of beast armor.

Honestly I wished they kept the creature legs from Morrowind in Oblivion. They looked so dumb with normal looking legs.

Arena, Daggerfall, and Oblivion had straight legs. Morrowind had rather odd frog legs. If they do use bent legs for beast races they should be mostlike the 'hungers' in Shivering Isles. Posture leaning forward to balance the tail.

I think they need a medium between the silly legs of Morrowind and the human legs of Oblivion, so they are still recognisably reptillian, but they can wear the same armour and boots (even if they had to stretch them a bit and make it so only the edge of the boots where the toes are was on the ground)

People are going to complain either way.
If their legs aren't human, they're going to whine about how it's possible that greaves and boots fit them, or about the fact that they can't wear boots as an Argonian or Khajiit.
If they have human legs, they're just going to whine based on nostalgia.
Sure, beast legs look cool, but do they really affect gameplay at all in the end?

Really dig the portrait of Azura on their wall!

Also want the Skyrim Map!

Also it is just concept at, concept changes.

I am not as upset about the lack of legs as I am the lack of claws and use of claws of the beast races in oblivion.

It looks far more like a set of armour to me. Anyone else notice the picture under that one? The guy seems to be holding a halberd! Or it might just be a giant one sided axe.

Edit* I also really liked that portrait of Azura :)
