Arkay the Enemy

Post » Tue Aug 31, 2010 4:51 pm

I just read this in game book called Arkay the Enemy and the author talks about how he wants to destroy the God Arkay so he and his necromancer fellows can basically rule the world or whatever. At the end it's signed KW (I think) so who is this KW guy?

Mainimarcco, god of worms.

Manimarco, Formerly King of Worms, Now God of Worms.

Formerly a contemporary and scholar of Artaeum along with Galerion the mystic. While Galerion founded the mages guild, Manimarco spent his time and magical affinities toward the study of reanimation of the dead, and like Galerion, threw off many of the older social mores which mitigated what the "Proper" use of magick was. Unlike Galerion, who decided that "McMagick" should be available to anyone with enough coin, however, (Thus throwing off the notion that practitioners of magick should be steeped in the knowledge of what that magick actually does deep behind the scenes.) Manimarco threw off the social mores that it was abhorrent to resurrect the dead for personal gain.

Hence his rivalry against Arkay, the god associated with mortal life/death, and rebirth. Rituals and prayers done in the name of Arkay can render it impossible to reanimate a corpse, and to steal a mortal's soul without the explicit permission of said mortal being granted first. This is the crux of the document cited-- "Arkay the enemy"

In many ways, Galerion and Mannimarco could be argued to have been very very similar. This is quite likely the origin of their rivalry, even in their days as students at Artaeum.

Snip

I'm pro mannimarco and i think, what is wrong with summoning the dead?

I belive necromancy is a form of restoration and who care what happens to your sorpe, your gone, and soul trapping, they could just make it a requirement to bind the sould to an item withen 24 hours so that the soul does not suffer too long.

They are very al;ike and peraonally i don't belive the paper when they fought, it was traven propagnda.

Thanks fellas! Even after playing for five years, I still find that I'm real noobish at all the lore! BTW just wondering why Mannimarco was such a scrub in Oblivion? (you don't have to answer that!) peace

Nobody ever said that gods could be weak. Perhaps he simply concentrated too much of his power into eclipsing Arkay. And story-wise, it was supposedly that special black soul gem that prevented him from killing you instantly.

But gods aren't killed like that, regardless of power.

Nothing less could be expect CP you always have to be diffrent

The gem stoped him from making you a thrall not killing you, and he is a god, and as powerful as arkey. UI doubt all his power is used up eclipseing him for 5 mins.

And anyway aafter the fake dies the necromancers moon still shines its special light.

Making you a thrall is effectively killing you, as it turns you into a zombie. And as for power, it could be estimated that he has between one-sixth and one-seventh of the power of Arkay, due to only being able to eclipse him for once a week. As for it remaining after he dies, he's still a god; even in death he has considerable power.

Well, as far as i go on necromancy ingame, it's more of a circumstance related thing.
Resurrecting good old gram gram for one more christmas = good.
Raising a army of the undead = Bad.
Resurrecting a Infamous bandit so he is forced to live in a rotting, and soon useless body = good.

I beg to differ, me and the assocation of evil undead-making mages is extremly offended

You don't start sentences with conjunctions. Pretty sure that the comma after "Walter" is not needed.

I find that there is a certain level of acceptability when it comes to grammatical issues on forums.

It is OK to misspell a word or two, or even to use a run-on sentence, as long as the full intent of the message is clear and concise.

For instance:

I was at teh store the other day and I picked up a game. Cna anyone help me figure out hwo to get it installed?

Is acceptable, because the question is easily understood, even with the misspellings.

However:

I wuZ @ da stoar da udder dei an I piked up a gayme cna any1 hepz me figor out who to git it istalled? (k thnx bai!)

is beyond the pale, and is deserving of being assaulted for the sin against written language that it is. If you are going to make a post on a public communication forum, and expect a reply that makes sense, you should do your best to ensure that your messages are easily understood, concise, and convey their intent clearly. If you do not put that effort in, it is rather foolish to expect to receive an intelligent answer in return, no?
