ARKTWEND the German TC translated into English Beta Release.

About Arktwend

Arktwend is a total conversion to The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind.

Arktwend is the name of the country in which the game is played. The size of the continent is around 30 square kilometers, making it larger than Morrowind. The player traverses idyllic forests, birds are flying through the air, animals such as sheep, deer, hares, wild boars and wolves cavort on the ground and fish swim in the underwater. Leaves fall from trees, grass and grain sway in the wind.

In between, there are always settlements, the largest city in the game is about the size of Vivec. A large part of the game takes place in Stormwend, the intellectual and cultural center of Arktwend, here are many guilds where you can join the city guards, the cleric, the gladiators, the Brotherhood or the Thieves Guild. One rumor, however, is that somewhere in the woods of Arktwend there still is a guild of hunters that has kept hidden, a group of rough boys.

The player can join each of these guilds and receive quests from them. In Stormwend itself resides Kanzler Brutus, a power-crazed tyrant, he has withdrawn into the big tower on the outskirts of the city front, from here the fate of the whole Arktwend will be decided. Furthermore, there are many small villages and castles throughout the country in which the player can fulfill side quests. The player begins his adventure in a monastery where he grew up, outside the monastery the whole wide world awaits him. But strange things have happen in Arktwend - Shadows roam the land and long-forgotten, old forces pushing back the power. The age of heroes has begun!

You need download Arktwend_DvR_Install_v2.0.0.de.exe . Included with the translation download are some extra files and an English ini. The vanilla Morrowind ini will not work correctly so you will need to use the in the English download because it is a TC.

Burrowind has made an excellent install guide because the installer is in German it might be confusing, also he show how to set it up as a multi-install so you can play Morrowind and then switch back to Aktwend. Here is his link to the web page. There are some excellent in game screenshots there.

Here's a tip: Try installing Vvardenfell Visages Volume I as a face replacer. It works, since it's pluginless.

To Install Arktwend files

Run its installer.

To Play
------------------
Only activate Arktwend EMaster vXXX.esm after installing nothing else.

This esm has everything in it but MWE. I halted it in order to track down errors and thought it might be causing some, it was just the MWE Combat system.

You do not need to use Morrowind Enhanced with the English version.

They recommend using mw_fps_opt, because it makes an enormous increase in sight received, making the landscapes of Arktwends even more enjoyable. It is provided in their download package.
Abot has been running Arktwend with MGE and it seems to be working out ok. So if you want to try that you can.

Remember to use their Morrowind.ini or mine. I did include the ini I have been using just in case; I altered where it said language, yes to all and show fps. I changed it from German to English that way I could use the console with the English keyboard otherwise it is in German, even when you save.
I more point concerning the ini ? If you use my English ini and then switch to their German ini none of the save games will show up in the game. This is because of the language setting they were saved in. To get them back either switch ini or go into the ini and change the language line to English or German. Then your saves will show up again.

NOTICE - Must Do
------------------
Don't use levitate or jump walls in Stormwend or in spots where it tells you to come back later because you will break some quests. Most of the time you can levitate in Stormwend but when a quest is give or an event happens, you should walk through. Otherwise go where you want. Also if you have to escort someone don't lose them or you won't be able to finish the quest.

It looks really nice, love the "dark forest" look, a more high fantasy look than Oblivion with all those high castle walls...I might give it a twirl Thanks for the headsup

But I would think if you got as high as level 18 with a charater then everything must be installed correctly otherwise you would have a hard time starting the game.

Is this the only spot that it has been crashing for you? Since I can not reproduce the error, I don't know what to say. When it crashes does it give you any errors listings in the warnings.txt file in the Morrwind folder?

What happens here is a journal entry in the conversation and then it takes you to the barracks. Try going into the barracks before joining to see if the area crashes for you. Also one other thing you do only have the ArktwendEMaster activiated and none of the German ones that came with the download, I don't think you do or else you wouldn't get your character to level 18.

That's all I can think of to look at at the moment.

well i got to that leve without joining any guild u see.i mostly backtrackt from stormwind and around were the zombies are .i think the only major quest i did was with some adventure person in the port.after i did that i tryd joinin the factions and thats were my problem started. im gona try to reinstall the mod and see if that dose anything.

i got it working!i tryd it one last time.going into the barckes and then speekin and the cutseens workt.no crash..thanks for the help.i do however get the message when loading my save game that the mastere file is changed and i may get errors..so far so good though.if i run into more probelms i will post here again..thank you very much:)

To take break on Arktwend I translated the dialgue of Myar Aranath the other German TC on the SureAI site. It is not as long as Arktwend but just about as big. I was also toying with combining the two and place it off to the east. It fits quit nicely in the area. I'm altering the intro now for it to work and giving you a quest for going there.

So here is a link, if any one wants to take a look at it in its orginal state. It should be totally playable. Just down load the MA files from the SureAi site and use only my english esm.

Here's what Myar Aranath is about.

Myar Aranath is a Total Conversion for The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. This means it has nothing to do with the world of Morrowind.

In this realm of Myar Aranath;
In the high north is the island of North Forge, once an independent Kingdom, it was by the armies of the Ahroma (Dark Elves) overrun and exploited, was incorporated after the victory in the first war North Forge as the newly established empire Fallas, but many regions are still in the hand of the enemy, they say there are dark forces still in place that keep the continent covered in ice and snow. Southeast lies the nation of Nursill, they are a proud and tenacious people which is not only one of Invarsion Away has survived. Nursill is divided into two islands, Ertorath was built on one, the capital of the Fallas. Nursill itself consists mostly of middle European type woods and marsh areas.
To the west lies Kallidar, a sinister place. The people of the elves, once lived here, until they split into two parts. The Dark Elves and undeaD plaguing the country and expelled the High Elves from their home, once sub-tropical forests through the country, today it is a parched desert, there is nothing to find there but except death and hatred. Recently, the rumors are piling up, the black citadel of Narathzul has been rebuilt, the larger and more powerful than ever before.

All three continents together have an extent of more than 800 Celle, in order to provide a comparative perspective to them, Morrowind itself has about 1300 Cells, Fallas is more than half as big as the gigantic Vvardenfell, and enough to discover there are also 10 populated villages and towns to explore, they also act vigorously, they are almost 1000 NPC, these NPC's have jobs, shops or taverns, that is resulting in a medieval fantasy world with it.
Now to the accommodation and the underground, and there are about 500 interiors, which is about split half in houses and dungeons.
The Dungeons are spread over the country, there are nearly all imaginable scenarios, this begins with bandit caves and sepulchers epic, and ends at the temple ruins.

To view the landscapes life to be, certainly made several tools bediehnt. Thus, the polygon count, and thus the level of detail in comparison to Morrowind on the double, while the world is much more detailed.
Nature animations such as falling leaves and grasses fluttering in the wind contributed to the improvement of the atmosphere.
There are also new "real" animals such as rabbits and deer in the undergrowth, most fantasy characters from Morrowind are gone.

There are 22 story quests, a main story and several part-time jobs.
To play Myar Aranath both addons Bloodmoon and Tribunal are required.

Hi there! First of all thank you for your efforts making this available for English users and for all the guidelines. I am having some trouble. The game starts correctly, MGE starts correctly and I get to enter my PC name and all OK. The adventure starts but I notice I don't have immediate access to my journal, or my inventory and I can't use Tab key to change view. Well, I continue playing and get to the point where I should receive a ring but nothing happens afterwards. He says it gives me the ring and the journal updates (I guess) but nothing happens. I can continue moving and stuff but I cannot advance anymore. What may be the problem?

That happens after you talk to Demetrius, you walk down to the statue, where he leads you, then go to the statue and click on it. Character menus start and the last thing is that the ring appears in the statues hands. Then talk to him again and he will tell you what to do next.

If that is not happening, I must ask, are you using the english ini and only the english esm? Activating one of the German ones will cause a conflict they are not needed.

just a quick qestion. im workin for the city gard iv been given an order to go to the east gate to meet a knight and then im told to kill bandets in the great mountins.i backtrack to were caraven is with ore killd those robers lookt around for more robers killd them.but still no journel update ..am i lookin in the wrong place?allso it dosent come up as a quest in my journel.only an entry.is this sapost to happen?

well i figuerd it out but im stuck again.i just finished the murder quest for the city gard.i have been promoted but i dont get anymore quests..what now?

o ok i got stuck again..i got in theif guild speek with master theif. I go to port to get theif hood..now i speek with Golia again and i have a quest with him.he tells me to meet him at some inn.i look everywre in stormwind and i cant find it.i try going outside of storm wind as far as castle but still i cant find this inn..can u tell me were i need to go..this is very confusing.thanks

Myar Aranath should be very bug free and it is made by the same group. I played the main quest all the way through without any problems. During translation I tried to add a few directions and more info in the dialogues. Many times I went in the wrong direction and that could have been because of translation. There needs to be more side quests, but there is a lot to explore and fight. It is more open then Arktwend was at first, once you arrive you can go see the captain or head to the woods. Oh and they limit levitation also.

Dux2222 is right about spoiling anything so please do watch how much info you give.

The inn at the moment does not have an interior so you will have to look at the sign above the door. It is a mug. Another sign on the building is for Dimitrie: Pawnbroker. Golia will not be there at any other time then he tells you to meet him and if you are late he will leave. Do as he says.

Apparently RapidShare only gives free users a limited amount of downloads, so I can't get Myar Aranath. Is there any way you could host files somewhere else, or is there perhaps a solution?

Why not upload it on PES? It's free to register, and you could just update the file every time, as well as keep any versions you want to remain available to people.

spoke to golia outside the splurging strgeon.he tells me to hide in bushes.i do so but a gard text comes and every reply i give i get cought.sounds like im sapost to be chased by a gard.but there is no one there when the text is fnished and golia is no were to be seen so i got back to the tavern and golia is there but if i speek with him he repeats the same thing he said when i aproch him at the sturgeon.
what did i do wrong to end up like this??

there is no gard.like i said after the text box has gon there is no one chasing me .and golia is back at the tavern but when i speek to him he ses the same thing as beffor "dont get caught or kill any one"
so i cant continue with the guild beacuse this quest dosent seem to work.:(

I have a new game started and just ran through the quest it worked for me. Try this suggestion.

when you go through the fence and get behind the bushes next to the corner of the Inn try moving up closer into the bushes. It just might be the distance marker.

the quest is don now but golia never went in the inn. he just stood there throught the hole text of a gard that never even apears...anywaz i went back to tavern and golia is there and he gave me new options so it workt..thanks.
