Armor Paint

Post » Wed Sep 30, 2009 11:36 am

Simple idear.

You can craft or buy 'paint' that will overlap/remove faction insignias, so you can wear them wherever you please. Example, the insignia on Brotherhood Power Armor can be chipped off. And I think that Enclave Power Armor should be hostile to NCR/Brotherhood until paint is applied.

I've always wanted to wear Centurion armor with T-51b Helmet (looks incredible!) but I can't, due to Legion haters.

In the loading quote it says that the Enclave has been all but forgotten, nobody in the NCR apart from people who actually fought at Navarro would remember them and the Brotherhood, I don't know they are seriously against history and it was all 40 years ago.

OT sounds like a reasonable idea really, some armour looks really good yet can't be worn because of a symbol on the shoulder-pad.

You mean something like... armor fading? If you are on the PC, http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=37698 could help ya.

Yes, I would love to wear the Desert Ranger Armor like it was in the http://estb.msn.com/i/E4/B646E3E0CDF85911A9D284EE26370.jpg without faction affiliation. If only i could add shin-guards.

PS3, man. I would love for a paint/unaffiliatification (Words, you can make them up) feature to be added to the game through a patch or DLC.

Who would vote Nay? It is simple, and it is an option that would help out plenty.

Just incase there was a misunderstanding, that was an answer to OP aswell. The mod in question allows de-factionalizing (?) every faction armor.

That would be awsome! I think you should not just be able to take off faction affilation but also paint or dye the armor.

Not everyone can use mods, I swear, PC users take their modding capability for granted, act as if everyone can do it or that people are wrong if they dont get a PC in the first place.

I don't think most PC users who suggest mods are trying to be an a**, they're just putting it out there in case another PC user wasn't aware of a particular mod available...

Anyway, I like the idea and why not have new "salvaged" armor sets to differentiate them, like taking the ranger vet armor chest plate and putting it over your wasteland hoodie ? Well maybe a more interesting combo but you get the idea.

I'd love to get the Vet Rangers duster, "paint" it black, and put it over Combat Armor, Reinforced Mk 1, with the Vet Ranger Helmet.

Who the heck is voting nay? I dont see a reason to not want it, i can see why people wouldn't care, but no reason to be opposed to it.

Just curious, Mako.

How does your PS3 run on this game? Because today mine cannot play Fallout to save its life CPU. Trying to explore East/Central Sewers (which I found for the first time after 4 playthroughs, lol) and it keeps soft/hard freezing.

Runs like a Kenyan, I hardly ever crash, I only get framerate drops when a zone is loading, after that it runs great.

Well, if your PS3 miraculously disappears and the window is open, you know what happened.

That was simply to inform the PC users reading this thread who voted "yes". "OP" as in "original post", not "poster".

I need to work on my political correctnessnes, it seems

Maybe a person in a future DLC will have the ability to do this to your armor, like repairing it, but costing more.

One problem is how different would the armor have to be for the disguise to no longer work?

Say your an NCR sniper and you saw a guy wearing legion armor but it was painted purple. Would you assume he's not really a member of the legion, or he's a member of the legion in a hilariously stupid disguise? I don't think it would work at all with legion armor. The non-faction brotherhood T-51b looks rusted and worn, but the brotherhood is quite prideful so one would expect a member of the BoS wouldn't let his armor into that condition. Now T-51b painted with legion or NCR colors and the respective emblem could work but that would change the faction disguise wouldn't it.

We want non-faction don't we, and lets face it the thing we all want is non-faction Veteran Ranger Armor, how significant a repainting would be enough to convince a watching legionnaire your not with the NCR. The armor would need to work quite differently.

Have you seen the people on this forum? if they had non-faction armor that looked identical to regular faction armor you'd have people complaining about how silly it was, complaining that I have to check to make sure which there wearing because they can't tell the difference by appearance.

Wouldn't paint/faded armor just be interpreted as defaced? Would they not just look on the wearer as an enemy wearing stolen equipment?

They should IMO; (One should not be able to wear Faction armor without the positive or negative reputations that go with it).
