Armor set bonuses not working. Solutions?

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 9:57 am

I currently have the custom fit, matching set and wind walker perks but am not getting and have never received the benefits of these perks. I am wearing all light armor (head, hands, feet and body) and have tried switching out different light armors but they still are not working.

Is this a known bug and more importantly is there a known work around or fix for this? Is it possible to add these effects via the console?

Which specific light armor pieces are you wearing?

I was just playing a light armor character yesterday (all elven gear) and I could see the armor factor increase/decrease on each piece of armor when I'd take off the helmet.

Mainly Stormcloak officer, but I tired a few. Fur, leather, hide, none of them work.

No, not even close. In the 200s.

For the matching set perk to work properly it has to be the same set, not just all light armor. Like all glass, any mixing of light armor and the perk wont grant you the bonus. I have found mixing of thieves guild and nightengale armor still count as part of the same set.

Edit: Are sure its not working? Only reason I ask is that some just posted that his soul trap bow doesn't work anymore when it was actually out of charge. Put on a whole suit of light armor and take off one piece. Then watch to see when you put it back on if your armor rating goes up by the armor rating of the individual piece or a higher amount.

I knew about matching set, but it looks like I have to use a complete set for all three perks, as well, as the other two don't work with mismatched armor. Either the uesp and everything I have read is wrong or my game is just different. >: /

Oh well.

Thanks for the help everybody. I am just going to get a mod that removes the helmet requirement from the perks so I can wear full stormcloak officer and a dragon priest mask and then I will be content.

Further experimentation seems to show that only one of the two armor perks affects Stormcloak officer armor, so I only get 25% (actually usually 23-24%, but whatever) bonus.

I can't wait for the CK to come out so I can start fixing Bethesda's game, already. >__<

I am having a similar issue with the heavy armor side. I crafted my own orcish armor and ebony armor sets. I also upgraded the orcish and ebony armor to Legendary at the same time with the same skill level and bonuses. the base armor (before wearing any) is higher on the ebony then the orchish, as one would expect, but, when I wear the sets, the orcish set gives a higher total bonus then the ebony set (enchanting is not involved). I should also mention that I have 85 heavy armor skill with all the perks (except the reflect damage) and 100 smithing skill.

the difference was about 50 points more for the orcish set when worn. but, interestingly, it was OK, because I had a pair of magical orcish gauntlets that gave me +35% two handed damage (which i upgraded to legendary), so It was to my advantage to wear the orcish armor anyway.

now of course, I have dragon armor and the total rating is now 933 which is 200 points more than the orcish, so its a moot point anyway. but, I just thought it was odd, that orcish would give me a better bonus then ebony even though ebony has a higher base value.

I don't like it. Doesn't fit my character at all. He is a ranger, not Batman.

Physical damage reduction is capped at 80%, which occurs at 567 displayed armor value.

if that is true then what is the point in going any higher than Dwarven Armor? with a smithing skill and heavy armor skill of about 50 each you can hit 567 easy. doesn't sound right to me. 1000 armor would make more sense as the cap, but, I have no way of testing any of this.

Wait, I have to have on all fur armor to get the perk bonuses (even the first one?)? I use fur armor and fur shoes, but Forsworn gauntlets, because they look much better.

I noticed some things do not work the way they are supposed to and also are you wearing a helm too, because that counts. You have to wear a full set including the helm. What I noticed is the smithing enchantments. I made a full set of pieces to make my smithing better then 100 and it only works with the potions not enchantments.

I use the no helmet required mod. Makes the game much better.

I take back what I said. I was able to test this.

I loaded up a game and provoked a giant to attack me. I had 375 health and no armor. foot stomp did 238 damage and a basic hit did 159,

with Dwarven (708), Orchish (789) and Dragon (936) the damage was all the same: foot stomp did 44 and basic blow did 31, which if you do the math is about an 80% reduction.

this is very dissappointing. I was not even trying that hard to get good armor, I maxed out a long time ago. I could have stopped at dwarven!
