Armor in Skyrim

Post » Sat Sep 12, 2009 2:14 am

A large variety of armor, fitting into these slots:
Head
L Pauldron
R Pauldron
Chest
L Gauntlet
R Gauntlet
L Greave
R Greave
L Boot
R Boot

Of course, I'm pretty sure that'll never happen.

More different looking sets of armor. It got kind of old in Oblivion with only like 5.

I would be content with just L/R pauldrons and Gauntlets, leaving boots and greaves as one piece, that seems like it would be be inconvenient.

Yeah, it's kind of unrealistic. I'm a customization geek, though.

They should make armor crafting and allow us to customize the armor to a similar extent as what they are showing in Brink.

-I would like to see capes, and be able to draqe robes over the armor, maybe raise lower hoods.
-I would like to have more slots available so if I want to show off tattoos on one arm but still have the armor and gauntlets covering the other, then I can do that.
-I would like to be able to have multiple weapons on my character, like a couple daggers or short swords for dual wielding, a longsword in a scabbard on my character's belt, and be able to carry larger weapons and bows and quivers on the character's back.
-It would be cool if they made more materials to use for crafting, so we could find daedric ore, iron ore, wood and cloth.
-I think it would be cool to be able to have underlay and overlay equipment so you could have plate armor over chainmail and be able to wear certain slots of both.

These are just wishes though.

I'm hoping for something in the Morag Tong/DB style, mostly. I have no use for heavy, and the rest of the light armours are so very clunky.

Ability to wear some amount of clothing over it, too, as much as clipping issues allow, and definitely more armour items than Oblivion allowed.

Viking aesthetics on damn near everything; both historic and pop-culture style.

I'd late a far greater variety of Iron and steel armors.
We also need a lot of Viking inspired armors.

They should also stick with Oblivion's system, Morrowind's system is far too clumsy for modern games.

I'd like to mix and match my armor. The more pieces the better, I say.

Lots of variety, like Morrowind, but more armor that's appropriate for the setting, like furs and such. The ability to pick out individual pieces is iffy. Walking around with two different gloves on irked me to no end, and it could be really really difficult, if not impossible, to find matches for some of the individual pieces. It could just be a bit overly tedious in some cases, I suppose.

I hope we see mainly armour that is appropriate to Skyrim. With some rarer ones that are brought in by trade, immigrants, etc. As such furs, leather, chainmail, etc. In general technologically wise to keep the Nordic feel I think comparing it to real-life more 1100-1200 period then later (such as plate armour).

I do hope we see clothing worn with armour, especially if clothing can help with keeping warm (if hopefully there is a hardcoe mode with temperature).

Keep boots and greaves in pairs. Think about it, have you ever worn two different shoes and though it was comfortable? Also, have you ever worn half of a pair of pants on one side and half another pair of pants on the other?
