Armor swapping...

Post » Thu Feb 13, 2014 4:14 am

Yes, there is weapon swapping (pretty sure this doesn't break the NDA), but does anyone know if there are plans to tie armor to the weapon swap? For example, Using a resto staff with a light armor build then a weapon swap to a sword/board and heavy armor. Ergo, all your gear swaps on the weapon switch...just not the weapon. I've been hunting around and haven't seen anything on this...

I think it would be nice and handy, but unsure how much it would break immersion where you essentially pull a Superman in the Phone Booth to swap armor sets...

Haha, Superman!

I have not heard of armor switching either. I did read that there are like 7 peices of armor (Sounds excessive) but I've also read 5. You can mix and match, so that can be your best bet, I suppose.

How do you feel about mixed armor?

well you could probably put your 7 armor pieces on your hotbar along with your weapons and then click the different armor pieces and weapons to swap them out?

This would indeed be nice to do.

Mixed armour is not a good idea, for reason's i can't mention.

Armour switching would be nice, but I think excessive. You can easily use your resto staff with Heavy armour. It has some downsides, but again, NDA. :)

Bottom line; would be nice, but no necessary!

It would be nice if you could swap armor quickly out of combat. I hope they eventually give us armor templates we can save, which can be switched using hotkeys (RIFT allowed you to do this using macros, and it was a huge convenience tool.)

I can just see a need/desire down the road for the ability to tie gear to weapon swapping since one will generally be switching roles. In the original example Restoration Staff = healer, so maybe armor catered to that weapon. Sword/Board - perhaps more tanky so the gear should reflect that. It makes sense, but again...I don't know how that coincides with immersion.

You have body, helmet, gloves, boots, legs and shoulders. You also have two rings and amulet. so you have one more armor slot than Oblivion. In addition you can wear leg armor and robes at once.

Its no armor switch function, you can however switch armor in inventory at any time however it will be a bit unpractical to do in combat.

No plans afaik. And tome an armor swap sounds kind of silly. A weapon swap on the other hand is believable and logical.

i would hope they never add an armor swap to the game. start the fight in full light armor for maximum magicka boost then when they close the gap instant switch to heave and s/s. yeah thats not something i want to see

That's a good point and has some pretty heavy PVP implications - not to mention general unbalancing. More I think about it now the more I am less in favor of armor swapping. It's something I would want, but not need if that makes sense..

I agree. If armor quick-swapping makes it into the game, it should be something the player can only do out of combat. I want it as a convenience tool, so I don't have to go into my inventory and click each piece of armor individually (we should also have hotbar templates, too, for this purpose, IMO.) It's not something I care to have access to in the middle of a fight.
