Armor under Clothes

Do you think it would be to much to wish for my thief character (main character) to be able to wear a light leather curiass under a cloak?

Cloaks or tabards should be the only clothing to go over top of armour, or surcoats. But I doubt they will even have cloaks in the game unless they have dynamic cloth.

I think they'll add cloaks you can put over your armor. It's cold in skyrim and i think it would fit in the game pretty well.

That being said, if it wern't in the game i wouldn't really care.

Your fear is paranoia. Pete confirmed on twitter that they are making an elder scrolls game not a fallout game. Expect tes armoring and not fallout.

I would also love to be able to wear light armor underneath a cloak. A black cloak and robe looks awesome, but I also want a glass cuirass and glass grieves underneath for protection. :)

I would LOVE to be able to combine clothes and armor again. I really miss that in Oblivion. Wearing armor without pants has gotta chafe!

As long as there are cloaks, I'll be happy, oh and loads of clothes.

i'd like it to happen and it would be more realistic than having armour directly on skin

Mentioned this in another thread but I too would love to see layerable clothes/armor again...plus separate gloves, pauldrons, boots, etc. One thing I loved about morrowind was making a defensive offensive look to my character.. the shielded side wearing medium armor and the sword side wearing light. I know it didn't do anything really for stats but I thought it looked cool anyway. I also love the added bonus of being able to enchant all those pieces. Sure it overpowered you but I liked it.

none of the armour seen appears to disallow shirts or skirts. i am not sure on pants

i dont think pauldrons are in though. they mix with the armour too well

I misread the title as Armour underclothes and thought sheesh I know it's important to protect the vulnerable parts but that just sounds uncomfortable

Anyway having now browsed through I get what you wanted - there are many times I am traipsing through Morrowind or Cyrodiil and wish i had a cloak that covers me - that or an umbrella. Layered clothing makes roleplaying much more fun.

Hey Daedric panties were an absolute must in Morrowind if you wanted to feel fully protected! :grad:

Talking of armoured underwear, TES is missing that vital medieval accoutrement, the Codpiece. Have you seen the 'Black Russian' in Blackadder II, that would make any Spriggan think twice before attacking.

The first question to answer is is it to much to ask for there to be cloaks at all?

adventurers traversing the cold snow covered, blizzard prone mountains of skyrim WOULD be wearing clocks for warmth.

I think it wouldn't be realistic for people to not be wearing cloaks in such a cold climate.

I think it could be possible and not to much in my opinion. However, the three-layer outfits from MW will probably not return. Pants and shirts under the robes/cloakes instead of armor would be a good way to balance it to. Either Armor-Cloak/robe or clothing-cloak/robe.

What I would like but probably won't see, is a choice of cloak or pauldrons in one shoulder slot. Will you have pauldrons because they were in Morrowind (and no I don't have Anything against MW ) , or a cloak because it's Skyrim and it's snowing.

I'd go for the cloak. It's far more stylish for my Spellsword

1. Underwear layer (plain undies for generaluse, long undies for the cold or fancy undies for dinner with the Count/Countess)
2. pants and shirt layer
3. armor layer
4. robe/cloak layer
5. accouterment layer (Belt with weapon and purse/pouch)

Cloths over and under where applicable is something I hated being out of OB but with tes style it's fine as long as armour doesn't end up like this, http://www.google.co.uk/m/search?site=images&source=mog&hl=en&gl=uk&client=safari&q=cloths%20over%20armour#i=1
I won't feel that cold in skyrim, you can presume full armour comes with under garments.

I like Morrowinds layering style. Gave room to more customization in terms of appearance. Hope they either bring it back or put something like it into Skyrim.

They'd still be cold, but at least they'd know how long they were out there......I just had to say that.

I really missed the clothing-under-armor and robes-over-armor in MW. My one character wore a simple brown healer's robe, but with chitin armor underneath for those times when patience and understanding aren't enough. Another wore partial armor over exquisite clothing; he didn't want his fashionable threads being completely obscured by such mundane "functional" necessities.
