Armor & Weapon Health [merged topics]

I have in oblivion my first time playing it didnt know much about the game yet so I didnt keep track of anything in my person so imagine my shock when out of the freaking blue my sword just disapears and Im just punching my enemy at that point.
I just started runing and jumping away from that piece of [censored]! Im pretty sure that jerk used a disintegrate spell on me.
But once I found out how to repair it (which it happens like in an instant and not several hours as it should) and even then there was nothing challenging about the process its just press button and done all fixed. I cant believe people found that challenging?!

I would actually prefer having a very small probability of the gun spontaneously breaking, than constantly degrading.

The player would have to find parts to replace the broken part of the weapon.

That I woould like to see in a mod

If I find a legendary gun do I want to have to use it sparingly so it doesn't break after 50 rounds.. Not really.

The only thing they could do is have weapon barrels break and be changed out. This would be realistic but the gun would need to be fired like 10,000 times or more for this to happen. they probably thought it wasn't worth messing with.

We have an insanely complex crafting system in fallout 4. Why add more complex nonsense.

Some people will never be happy. It is the same as those who were sad there were no spears in skyrim

A realistic approach is that I repair an item pretty much once and it lasts me for 1,000 hours of play time.

:)

IF it happens to be armor I might repair it maybe like 2 to 3 times over the course of 1,000 game hours.

That would be a good repair system, but a waste of time to make it work properly.

Moderators have already made it clear several times that people who provide what you're asking will be suspended or banned, so I would hope Ballowers doesn't supply that information.

I can almost guarantee Bethesda had at least some knowledge of the leaks and didn't care to try and stop them. These "leaks" create tons of buzz and marketing PR for literally nothing. They are thanking the leakers behind closed doors but of course have to denouce the leaks publicly as they go against thier legal agreements. It's rather funny that people think Bethesda doesn't approve of the leaked screenshots and info. If it was significant main story content or a live stream then I do think they would be upset.

I'm a bit disappointed they just got rid of it instead of reworking it since I did kinda like this system, it just needed a little tweaks here and there.

Liitle tweaks here and there?????? if they need to make it work they need to make a new system.

is good the remove a not essential system that only was annoying.

Can't say i'm at all surprised. Disappointed, but not at all surprised.

Do guns still need ammo?

Well, that's what they do. Never refine, always remove or reinvent.

In Fallout 3, the scrap metal in the game was originally called "spare parts". You used the spare parts(scrap metal) to repair your weapons. This idea for using scrap metal for weapons came from Van Buren and the Blackfoot smelter, Scar for Hands.

It doesn't bother me they have done away the the repair system. I could take it or leave it.

I really don't see what the issue is of removing repair for weapons/armor since now we will be crafting and modding weapons/armor at a workbench which pretty much makes the old FO3 repair/cnd system obsolete, we're getting something better/more advanced now. Again, I don't understand the complaint here.

I cant believe this is that upsetting to people.... Although i think a lot of people are overreacting for "forum drama". I doubt very many people would actually cancel a pre-order by learning there's no weapon degradation lol. That's just silly.

I remember when people were mad the in game text and UI was green lol People will get over this just like they did the green text and UI :foodndrink: we can all have a laugh at these threads after the games launched.

Another thing people need to take into consideration is that Fallout 4's Story Mode will take place in the Commonwealth which is considerably more technologically advanced than the Capital or Mojave wasteland, possibly making alot of things previously experienced in 3 and NV potentially obsolete. I really think y'all should just wait until release and play through the game before rushing to judgement. I personally can't wait until the 10th when I finally boot 4 up and the screen says "Loading Story Mode!" It's gonna be awesome guys!!

Why would they need to make a new system? Literally all you have to do is change some values so it isn't as tedious as before.

Easy to say, difficult to do, as evidenced by the fact devs have been doing it for years, and failing at it each time.
