Armors without multiple parts

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 4:48 am

Well he said, "it's not fallout 3, one piece.."

So, the way he said it, it sounds like it's one piece, but just not the way it is in fallout 3.

No, he means its not how it was in fallout 3, one piece.

Fallout made sense to have it in suits, because realisticaly, there aren't many types of armour. Cloth clothes, and power armour? That's it. The TES universe has many different types, with cloth cloths, and all the various types of metal, fur and leather. And since an RPG is about being who you want to be, they shoud offer you as much customization as possible. Which should mean we can have armour in separate pieces, not as a suit.

P.S: I'll be terribly disappointed if it's 1-piece business.

Pete Hines, twitter:
Guys, armor question is in the fan interview. As I said, it's not Fallout 3, one piece. Beyond that, stay tuned.

This reeks of carefully parsed equivocation.

Pete sounds annoyed.

I'm worried about the last bit, "Beyond that, stay tuned".

Why would he give out information that will be given in a few days? Hes just building suspense, which is his job, technically(Marketing).

Well, it's definitely not full suit armor+headgear like in Fallout.

If it is in one piece, but you can craft it... that actually sounds pretty neat, though it would make sense mostly for heavier, full plate armor, not leather ones...
Oh well, you can still customize it I guess...

Don't people remember that when Oblivion was being shown, characters where shown in full armor sets? It doesn't mean anything anyway, Bethesda is just showing off the armor.

????

I'm not expecting him to give out info that will be available shortly. I'm worried about what the info will be, specifically.

He's done his job. XD

Oh, that wasn't very clear to me by what you said.

But like I said, Oblivion was shown with everyone in full sets of armor, and you could still customized. Its just the way they are showing off Skyrim, with full armor sets instead of mix and match.

I'm very grateful that finally someone did make some effort to clear things up (Thanks Pete), however the way it was worded is pretty confusing.... We'll know in a week or two though.

I'm really dissapointed about this. But to be honest, anyone who didn't see this coming must've been living under a rock.
Apparently, cutting features is away is the cool thing to do now.
I just hope they leave at least some sort of slots open so modders can fix another stupid decision.

Do you guys have a different native language? Its pretty clear to me.

There is a question about how armor sets are in the Fan interview, but he can confirm its more than just head+body(Fallout 3), the rest you have to wait for with the fan interview.

Well, I'm happy to hear that it is not 1 piece at least... But from this, I get the feeling that the number of armor pieces are lowered. I guess there will be seperate helmets and gloves(or bracers) only... :sadvaultboy:

They said that armor will be one piece in the inventory, but still separate pieces on the body. Just another way to reduce clutter/encumberment imo

Think of it like this:

You still get the weight penalty if you have pieces of armor A1 and Armor B1 and Armor C1

If you have half or full of Armor A1, it "fuses" because it is the same armor, reducing encumberment.

same thing with Armor B1 and C1, but if you have armor pieces that are not alike, you get the weight penalty.

I have a feeling this was all just a huge misunderstanding and that there will be plenty of armor pieces to choose from. I'm sure there are just as many, if not more pieces than what was in Oblivion.

I like that it's multiple pieces but I fear that we will be limited to Helm, Gloves/Bracers, Curiass combined with Greaves and Boots with 2 rings, an Amulet, and possibly a belt. Sounds a lot like Origins, hopefully I'm wrong and it's exactly the same as Oblivion with the addition of Belt or Pauldron.

So... Pretty much Morrowind then? :D

Almost every mag covering Skyrim have made some mistakes, so... That's just the way it is, I guess. ;)

It's not the 1st time, I think they screwed up on ME 3's article when they said that the game would have multi player but then it was later denyed and corrected by Bioware.

He worded this way because it would be hard to tell without outright saying it.
Basically: Yes there are different parts, but no the Playstation magazin haven't done a mistake.

I'm still with whoever said that it will be customized in crafting though, because this fits that description the best.
Not sure how it will work out though...
