Armors without multiple parts

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 1:09 am

Holy crap, 36% percent wouldn't buy it because of that. I have seriously lost a lot of faith in the TES community if people are that fickle.

Being a fan does not mean buying the game no matter what... That ratio shows that TES community likes seperate armors :)

I would have to agree, the majority of the community likes having seperate armor pieces. The reason the numbers are so high in the poll is because the poll is asking the question would this deter you from buying the game.

Again what it sounds like is clothing is built into an armor set so any part of that armor set gives you the clothing that goes with it.

What weight do you place on that? Obviously, it has to be more than 50% (with 50% being "I will reluctantly buy this game"). Tell me that is not ridiculous. I want separate parts, but having detachable pauldrons is not something I would say, "Nope, not buying this terrible game." It's not a fashion designer game.

Better question: did you people buy Fallout 3? If so, I don't understand the hypocrisy.

Also, "totally lose interest" conveys the idea that you will not buy the game under any circumstances. "Reassess the purchase" would be a better way to put it, if that's what you all mean.

Edit: Wait... going off of this, I guess everyone is just expecting "Barbie's Medieval Dressup."

If this is true, I suggest that everyone should change their vote from "I would still buy the game" to "Hell no I wont buy it, if there is no seperate armor"

I think I have to agree with you, I'm willing to stomach crossbows and children, so I think these people need to calm down.

I don't think that it is true. But if it was I would be highly dissapointed but buy the game still. But what I have to say is, if it is true then they had better delay the game's release date to give us multiple pieced armour back. I was horribly dissapointed with Oblivion's clothing system and was hoping that they would make it more like Morrowind's clothing system again in Skyrim.

This!
I really hated when they removed pauldrons. They were hard to find , like the helmets, and it was great to mix different pauldrons to different armor types.
I would really be pissed if they went fallout way! The only part i couldn't care less are greaves ;)

This is not Fallout, but TES and it has its unique features and we like it that way. The problem is not detachable pauldrons, but whole game evaluating to something between TES and Fallout. But you are right, "totally lose interest" is a little harsh. On the other side, there are some other things that changed about the game which made some people angry and I think thats why people are edgy

I realize that they are different, but if everyone was expecting Barbie Dressup: Fantasy RPG Edition, then I really don't know what to say.

First, we have Lionhead's "Fable 2: Immaturity Edition," then Bioware's "Dragon Age II: Romance Edition," now some of you want this. Fantastic, now all the good WRPG devs are dying.

What difference does anyone else's opinion make to you?

This is really a question for many in the community, because I've never understood it. This thread (as is the case with pretty much all such threads) has already been plagued with people who come crashing in to harangue anyone and everyone, individually and collectively, who expresses any sort of reservation regarding a possible game decision.

Why? Why do you care what someone else's opinion is? What possible difference does it make? So yours differs. Why can't you simply do as others do and express your opinion and leave it at that? Why do you feel any need to argue against those who hold differing opinions?

This forum would be a much, MUCH more civil place if people just expressed their opinions, rather than hurling scorn and derision towards anyone who expresses a differing one.

Also, "totally lose interest" conveys the idea that you will not buy the game under any circumstances. "Reassess the purchase" would be a better way to put it, if that's what you all mean.

There is no option in the poll to reword the response. All there is, ultimately, is a positive position and a negative position, so anyone who wishes to communicate a negative position is compelled to do so with whatever editorial commentary the OP has attached to it. That doesn't mean or even imply that all those who voted for the negative position agree with everything that the OP chose to attach to it.

I, for one, will undoubtedly buy the game no matter what. Yet I voted for the first option specifically because I wished to communicate that this is a potential design decision with which I disagree. Had it been possible to vote for that precise position, I would have. It wasn't, so I didn't.

*edit to add*

I note that you apparently didn't consider the amount of scorn and derision you attached to your earlier response to be sufficient, so you felt the need to get even more insulting.

Way to contribute..... :goodjob:

I don't see why they'd say like Fallout in the mag, if they meant clothing and armor can't overlap. Wouldn't it be less confusing to say, "like Oblivion?"

This worries me a little. I hope they're being really misleading and are actually referring to inventory. If not, it's not a good direction to be heading. I was expecting MORE armor slots than Oblivion, not ONE armor slot (maybe two or three if it's like Fallout). Modding solves nothing, since that doesn't help the majority of ES players. This is something that modders shouldn't have to change, though. Anyway, let's hope this is being misinterpreted.

First, did I argue? No. Quit extrapolating. I'm expressing my opinion, which you seem to already be doing without any reservation. Honestly, you are arguing with me. That's called a hypocritical action.

Second, alternatively, you could have, I don't know, not voted and merely written your opinion.

Maybe they just want to surprise the fans by revealing, after all this speculation, that it's actually Morrowind-styled armor? :P

When you quote something, first read it...It is nothing to do with designing the "dressing"... We dont want the game to be "like fallout" but be unique.

Is English not your first language? Not a flame but a genuine question. Dressup means putting on clothing in a very particular way, which is what you've been fighting for in this thread. Having separate pauldrons and such detachable goes beyond what is normally considered RPG accessorizing.

I enjoyed Fallout, and it didn't bother me that sets were different. And in Oblivion and Morrowind I usually used full sets of the same armor anyway.

Something so trivial wouldn't stop me from playing the game, but I would certainly prefer to see separate armour pieces.

My initial reply wasn't aimed at you, but the people who seriously believe that separate pauldrons, etc will cause the downfall of the game. Your reply to my initial statement was just a jumping-off point for my examination.

This may be a dumb question, but Pete said that the issue of multiple pieces is a fan interview question, right? So does this mean we won't get FULL clarification on this from the E3 demos?

Also I would like the idea of full armor customization having to be crafted (either by the player or an NPC) if that meant pauldrons could also be customized onto a chest piece. It would give us more options than before. We've already heard in interviews that there are thousands of armor items, surely they'll let us play with these. But if it is simply cut down to head, body, gloves just for the sake of less inventory clutter, well, that just isn't worth it to me. I can buy Todd's reasoning on cutting attributes and the other ways that folks think this game is being dumbed down. But cutting things just so a guy with a controller can more easily play it - that doesn't sit right with me at all. Will I still buy the game? Of course and so will most of those who say otherwise. I mean have you seen the other amazing stuff in there?

So yes, there are going to be separate pieces.
In what form though, remains a question...

yeah... there seems to be strong signs of hope for the issue... but i wish we still had more information to put the issue to rest... for now i'm just going to try to trust that bethesda knows better...

I'm starting to lose faith in the video game industry as a whole now, it's becoming obvious that the generations of nerds who started game companies to make games art peices for other nerds have grown up now to be corporate tools who make media for mass profit.

Beth is pretty much my last hope, if this starts to be true then i dont know what ill do.
