Armors without multiple parts

You really want proof of seperate armour pieces... okay

http://www.tesnexus.com/imageshare/images/1448382-1298574939.jpg - if you remember from the trailer, the Dovahkiin has the leather armour with a metal pauldron on his left shoudler and a four way strap along his chest reaching over both of his shoulders.

http://img836.imageshack.us/img836/3927/baldguy.jpg- now our bald nord has the fourway strap with the metal pauldron on his left shoulder, BUT also has a leather pauldron on his right shoulder and a different textured leather curaiss.

If you ask me, the clothing customization in this game will better than ever before, that or i have missed something totally obviously different in the two pictures and thier clothing and im about to get a lot of flaming.

Visual proof:

Same lower armor, one with no shirt, one with shirt.

Just so people know what Pete really said:

I would be extremely dissapointed, Fallout 3 armor was horrible, there was something about nearly every set that bugged me, but with seperate pieces and can just mix & match till I have something I like. The core reason I play TES games is for the character building and this severely hampers the fun of that.

I dont buy these open world BGS games because of the armor. I buy them because of the exploring, the ability to ignore the "story", the experience and replayability. Would it bother me that there is only a couple armor slots... Yes. Would that be enough for me not to buy the game? HELL NO! I loved Fallout and soon forgot about the single piece armor. Do I want multi armor slots? Yes. Are we getting multiple armor slots? Thats a good question.

We have Pete Hines litteraly answering that question and stating we have multiple armor slots. We have multiple screen shots showing armor combinations. On the other hand, we have 1 sentence in a mag stating otherwise. Im not taking a throw away line in a mag over Pete and several screen shots. That being said... IF. If, on the day of November 10th 2011, Todd states that they had to limit armor to one slot... Im still going to get it.

I'm now more inclined to think that Playstation magazine made a misunderstanding. I am sick of all these magazines making freaking mistranslations and misunderstandings. I say we write a letter to OPM to heap our grievance on them.

With the screenshots and pictures showing the same armour with different pieces/clothing It would be REALLY disappointing if this were true.

I mean in an RPG, character customization (Stat wise AND costmetically) is a MAJOR part of it. To make the clothing/armour a single piece is a TERRIBLE design choice and a step back.

We need MORE depth, more customization, not less. Especially when many non-rpg game sthese days (A la FPS games) are offerening even more and more customization of their characters. IT would baffle my mind to have this be true.

I don't think that it is true. But if it was I would be highly dissapointed but buy the game still. But what I have to say is, if it is true then they had better delay the game's release date to give us multiple pieced armour back. I was horribly dissapointed with Oblivion's clothing system and was hoping that they would make it more like Morrowind's clothing system again in Skyrim.

that seems more likely to support the Fallout 3 one piece system, like bandit and elite bandit armors, they are too different to be the same armor.

If it is true, why would they do it?

I can only think of either:

A) Saving time/money doing armor as one piece instead of individual pieces
or
B ) They assume the audience they are targeting is too dumb to handle more than one or two (body and helm) pieces.

I don't like the idea of people buying the game, even though they're not okay with something. Especially something so integral to the RPG experience as having multiple armor pieces. If they can get away with doing this (assuming it's true), then who knows what they'll do next? Remove inventory altogether and make everyone have one armor set that's stuck to our character? Make us pick only male or female from one race? How much has to get removed and streamlined before people will say, "Whoa there! That's far enough!"

They have different pauldrons. And we can't see what the front of them look like. So for all we know they could be the same two we were looking at in the other images.

I hate to say this, I really do, but "seperate pieces" could easily mean body, head, and hands/feet. I'm in knots about chest and upper legs, shirt and pants, cuirass and greaves.

its integral to your rpg experience not mine, i felt i could define my character well enough in fallout 3, id prefer seperate armour pieces but it just isnt that big of a deal to me. Obviously it a bigger problem for others and if it ruins their experience they shouldnt buy the game, but all of this is hypothetical since pete confirmed they are separate

While not the same, the pants are definitely look like one.

And the more I look at these pictures, it makes me think that we'll have pauldrons in a form of harnesses, no separate left and right though...

How separate though, is what I want to know. Just Helm + Body for example isn't good enough for me.

This. Fallout 3 armor was in separate pieces: "T-51b Power Armor" and "T-51b Power Armor Helmet" = 2 separate pieces. And given that Todd and Pete both answer questions in ways that suggest the conversational techniques of political candidates on the campaign trail..."Not in the classical sense," anyone?

Too bad nobody asked them if it's going to be like Fallout...

Oh wait, they did...

Also here's the actual question:
Will Skyrim's armor be one-piece or separated into cuirass, greaves, boots, and gauntlets?

If Pete would mean just helmet he would've said so...

I will be SO bummed out if that's the case. Like I said before, I can see no reason to do this other than them thinking their audience can't handle having to put together multiple pieces of armor.

What I am thinking is that there may be a fast swap for grouped pieces of armor. For instance, you could have your town clothe and your exploration armor. Both entail many different pieces, but you can save the entire loadout as a quick swap. The same way you can favourite weapons or spells. Just press the d-pad and viola, your in comfortable slacks and a nice shirt with no helmet. Press d-pad again, presto, youre ready for that frost troll cave with your glass armor and steel boots or whatever.

Im sure someone will explain it better. But thats what Im thinking the error may stem from.
