Armour and Clothing Customization

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 10:02 am

So guys what do think about the possibilty of modifying non power armour in Fallout 4? I haven't noticed anything in any videos so far.

I know they are re-introducing a layered armour system ala Morrowind or something similar, which is a good thing and I am happy with it, but I want to be able to modify my clothing and light/medium armour as well, not just from a stats point of view but visually modify, change colour etc.

A guy can dream I suppose?

yeah, not even a pipe dream, your going to have to wait for a mod, or not even bother thinking about it.

Tho its very vague and far from solid proof, but during the E3 demo, when they showed the guy using the pip boy, folks have spotted the armour list listing armours with the same kind of prefixes and sufixes you can see on modded guns.

They changed the clothing/armor dynamic drastically.

Clothing = Full body apparel giving SPECIAL buffs but NOT defense

Armor = Armor layers with varying defense values (leather/metal etc) worn over clothing

:lightbulb:

Yeah I know it's unrealistic in the vanilla game, at least to the degree I'd like :)

I hadn't heard that, but it gives me some hope.

Yeah I'm hopeful I can find plenty of outfits that will look good by mixing and matching. Overall I am fairly happy with what I've seen so far. It looks a huge step up from 3/NV.

I'm just happy they are doing the layering thing. This was something I loved for Morrowind, making different combinations and all. I can't wait to see what we can come up with in F4!

I want to be able to paint my power armor black with old school flame job on the arms and legs as well as a scull motif on the helmet. :shifty:

Even though I kinda "knew" this, seeing it like this, really made me pumped!

COLLECT AND BUILD!

Collect, upgrade, and build thousands of items in the most advanced crafting system ever. Weapons, armor, chemicals, and food are just the beginning - you can even build and manage entire settlements.

Taken from the description https://fallout4.com/games/fallout-4

I wouldn't rule out modifying or even crafting armor just yet.

I don't think we're going to be seeing regular armor mods. With the Power armor, the whole a,b,c,d,e,f, etc. thing seemed to be more like different models of the same armor than it did mods. The paint jobs were just superficial. I doubt there are going to be multiple models of, say, raider armor, and paint jobs only really make sense on the more vehicle-like power armor. Obviously, the armor is going to be modular, like the weapons and power armor, but I doubt there are going to be any modifications for individual pieces.

Beat me to it. Drats!

It does say weapons, armor, clothing, and food. They've gotta leave something left for us for when we actually have the game.
