Arranging House Items (noob)

Post » Tue Mar 15, 2011 2:11 am

Okay, so I just got my house in Megaton. I have various kitchen items and office items that I'd like to place on shelves and on the desk.

Is it possible to actually place items, or do you pretty much just toss stuff on the floor when you remove something from your inventory?

The robot says that he will straighten up for you. Does he actually do anything like put items on shelves?

Im not sure about the Robot but you can use "Z" if your on the PC and pick items up and physically move them. Certain objects cant be moved however, like shelves, metal boxes, etc.

Wadsworth is excellent at knocking over the things you spend hours trying to perfectly arrange. Argh! If you want to do much delf-decorating to your home, it would be best to, ahem, dispose of him first. I would also recommend having followers wait outside the front door. They'll knock over all your stuff too.

Think gravity. Pick up an object at its top, and watch as gravity takes hold, then slowly place your object. I lift, then place. Grabbing and placing tends to make a mess. On 360, if I waggle my sticks left and right, I can rotate the object. I tend to kill Wadsworth early on, and drag his body into that extra skooma drug den room. After carefully arranging your home after several hours irl, nothing sends me over the top like when someone, or something knocks it all over.

I got rid of most of my kitchen stuff (you don't really use it anyway) and put the food in the fridge.I use the shelves for my collectables like Nuka cola trucks and gnomes and my bed is full of teddy bears.

He's also a true professional at blocking the stairs and doors.

If you press the right anolog stick (consoles only) you can pick up and object and physically move it to where-ever you want.

Nothing blocks you every time like dogmeat does. You walk into your room to get some sleep and your turn around and there he is RIGHT in the freakin doorway.

Do yourself a favor and use http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11532. It lets you easily place items instead of constant trial-and-error. Also you can lock them in place so they can't be knocked over or moved unless you enter the Feng Shui GUI and unlock it; so Wadsworth or any other NPC's won't destroy your hard work

You can also get a mod that disables Wadsworth completely since he's pretty much worthless
