Arrows.

Post » Sun Dec 11, 2011 7:05 am

I'm at level 15 at the moment. But I'm just wondering- will I find better and more plentiful arrows than steel in later levels? i've found a few dwarven arrows and like 2 ebony arrows, but they're obviously not as common as iron or steel arrows.

I'm well aware that you cannot Smith arrows on console versions, which I'm playing Skyrim on, and I know you can buy decent arrows around. But is there any place that dwarven or higher arrows respawn, or any monsters that could drop them?

Cheers :)

I typically use steel as my all-day everyday basic arrow. I keep the higher damage arrows for those special occasions, where I can sneak shot a high level mob, i'll start off with the best arrow that I have. Then I'll switch back to steel. I've found that as you level up, better arrows become available to buy at your regular vendors. But the price might not make them desirable enough to purchase.

I'm at level 22 and have a nice stack of orcish arrows, so you'll probably start finding them soon. I also came across some elven arrows, but not many.
What I know for sure though, is that the shortage of arrows last only ~20 levels, after that you'll have more arrows than you can use, so don't worry.

Daedric is the best i believe and there is a trick to duplicate arrows~ I used Faendal but i think any follower that uses a bow will work, if you remove everything from your follower and give them 1 of your strongest arrows, it will never deplete when he uses it, so just collect any arrows he fires off or any thats left in the enemy you both killed and keep storing them on your follower, i ended up with over 100 daedric arrows that way :spotted owl:

You will find better arrows as loot at high levels. Also vendors start carrying quite a lot of them. They are expensive, but, by that point you'll have so much money that it's not even funny. Buying a stack of expensive arrows also gives the merchant enough septims to properly buy your loot too. :)

Basically, don't be afraid to use your high-level arrows on tough enemies. There's plenty of them available.

In Solitude there is a Fletcher who, as his name suggests, specializes in bows and arrows. You can buy a lot of enchanted bows from him and he also stocks a wide range of arrows. As far as looting arrows, you'll find them overtime in dungeons and what not, and as you increase in level, the arrows get better and better.

Also, just a random bit of information, at the Castle in Solitude, both Guards and Soldiers will practice shooting targets in the courtyard with Steel Arrows, which you can then take off the arrows. It is a great way of getting a large amount of Steel Arrows with no cost to you.

No, I'm level 56 and still use steel mainly. I have less than a hundred daedric, more of others, but not enough to use. I pickpocket steel arrows from guards when I get low. Takes no time to get 400-500. They should have included arrows in smithing.

You're not buying any, then. Presently my highest level character is 38. He does buy arrows if they are good ones (has over 30K septims, what else is he going to buy).

On self:
627 Ancient nord (I pretty much never use these...)
223 Dwarven
127 Ebony (Only dragons get these)
112 Elven
109 Glass
283 Iron (Most-used, because difference between iron and steel is negligible at this level)
140 Orcish
267 Steel

A random sample of what's for sale at the shops:
27 Dwarven
12 Ebony
50 Iron
24 Orcish
57 Steel

So. Yeah. I've never run out of arrows, nor even run out of "good" arrows for tough bosses, but I do buy arrows when I see them for sale.
