Because I simply don't understand it, I'm terrified of heights but they certainly don't bother me when they aren't... y'know... real.

Its more based on how they look I think. Theres a lot of reasons why someone would be freaked out by spiders.
They even list one in the game, as Ralof says "Too many eyes, yknow?"

Their ridiculous size kinda makes me not terrified by them. But I've got to admit, hearing them behind me on surround system 5.1 does make my heart skip a beat or two

I for one intend to try and re-texture them when the CK comes out. (I'd remodel them too, but I lack the skills for that.) I think they are too damn cute atm, I want scary looking spiders, they need little red glowing eyes, a black body and the legs need to be more needle like with a higher arch and fewer segments. Add that and may be them spawning from holes/crevaces all around the place, and you got yourself a whole new kind of enemy.

A male spider quick mates with a female spider right in front of you and then the female eats the male so that she can give nutrients to the conceived spiders.

Before you know it, there are 10,000 spiders under your robes/tunic.

I dispatch spiders as if they are nothing. Unless there are 2 or more giant spiders.

Only abnormal phobias can't be cured. I've found out the best way to cure a phobia is to face it, and then find out it's not so bad after all.

1. My fear of spiders was cured when I played Alien vs Predator (facehuggers), and Dark Messiah of Might and Magic (a lot of spiders).
2. My fear of deep waters was cured when I had to go diving in Half-Life 1 with big shark like creatures.

Now if I only could play a spooky game like Fear...No, I still can't.

Why the hell would somone make a mod to get rid of the spiders???

I frickken' love killing the spiders. Has humanity turned into such a speices of big jessies that we're scared of spiders in video games now?

Spider creep me out so badly i need someone in the room with me when ever i go underground or into a marsh, woods, or wide open space in which they might be in.... :yucky:

I'm actually quite happy with this game for helping cure my arachnophobia. Always thought of spiders as the freakiest, most disgusting species on this planet so when I started Skyrim I always got the jitters when I came upon any. But the more I play the more I find myself shrugging them off and now real world spiders are starting to bother me a lot less. That said, I still hate the giant one in the Dwarven ruin at Understone Keep. I always hide in the hallway near him and long range him to death. :gun:

If anything I want a Mod that adds spiders. More varieties. Bigger ones, smart ones (perhaps you could do quests for them, or kill them if you are so inclined)...

Maybe some spider related quests. Maybe a pet spider for my house - I've never owned a dog IRL, but I have owned a lot of spiders, snakes, lizards etc. The opportunity to own a fantasy spider as big as a dog would be brilliant!

Oh but they do, sometimes, I guess you havn't been to the worst places yet.

And let me tell you, skyrim flies are the worst.

Don't understand why this problem seems so prevalent.

In my country, or at least the city I'm living in, I've never seen one person mentioning arachnophobia.

Haha I hate spiders in RL if I see one it dies with whatever sized shoe is appropiate They are SO well done in Skyrim that I feel that same sense of horror that I do in RL, so that is why I made a nice ranged wood-elf charachter, he can kill them instantly one shot from across the room, no need to get up close and personal :yucky: I just did a quest today where I killed 4 frost spiders in one room, then all of a sudden I noticed this MASSIVE spider drop down from the roof, I was so unprepared looting the room after killing its kids that I almost fell off my couch with fright! Giant Frost Spider.... What are Bethesda trying to do to me, I mean I hate them enough without making them even BIGGER! oo: Silly thing wouldn't die in one shot either I had to beat it up and flame it

Stupid arachnids... look up a old movie called Arachnophobia, that is one of the reasons I hate spiders so much... :bolt:

I didn't find them scary at all. The black spiders with poison were more scary.

I seriously have been waiting for that move because they didn't add spiders since Daggerfall. (Apart from dwemer spiders).

They should remove the spiders' walking sound. Its annoying. And giant frostbite spiders descending from above is about the worst piece of @"￡$ i encountered. Especially after running from a trap.
